Biography C.C. Catch. C.C. Ketch: what did I do wrong? Si ketch singer biography personal life

In the mid-1980s. not a single disco was complete without the songs of the German singer Caroline Müller, who was known throughout the world as C.C. Ketch. She became a real pop icon, and her hit "Cause You Are Young" has not lost its popularity to this day. In the 1990s. the singer disappeared from the stage. What role the soloist of "Modern Talking" Dieter Bohlen played in her life, how her fate developed after she was at the height of fame, and what she is doing today - further in the review.

Carolina Katarina Müller was born in 1964 in Holland, and a few years later she and her mother moved to their father in Germany. There, the girl studied to be a designer and worked at a garment factory, and in the evenings, secretly from everyone, she sang in her room and dreamed of a career as a singer. Once acquaintances from a musical group asked her if she wanted to take vocals professionally, and since then Carolina, or Karo, as her relatives called her, began to do everything in order to become an artist: she took vocal and guitar lessons, studied dances and participated in talent contests.

She succeeded in fulfilling her dream largely thanks to her father, who believed in her and left his profession to start a new business and become a manager of his own daughter: he organized the Orbita agency, which was involved in talent contests. Thanks to this, he managed to make acquaintances with the producers and draw their attention to his daughter. True, at first their cooperation could not be called successful - she was promised mountains of gold, but in fact they just wanted to cash in on her.

An abrupt turn in the fate of the aspiring singer came after she met Dieter Bohlen, a member of the Modern Talking group, who invited her to his studio to audition, and then offered to sign a contract. In 1985, he became her producer and invented a new pseudonym for her - Si Si Ketch: the first two letters “S. FROM". were her initials - Carolina Katarina, to which Dieter Bohlen decided to add "Catch" (in English - "to catch"). It was under this name that she became known throughout the world.

The very first single by C.C. Ketch "I Can Lose My Heart Tonight" became a super hit and took first positions in the music charts. And the composition "Cause You Are Young" released a year later brought her worldwide popularity. All the songs for her debut album were written by Dieter Bohlen, thanks to whom C.C. Ketch became the queen of discos. Her first album went platinum in Germany and gold in Spain.

At the end of 1986, the singer's second album Welcome To The Heartbreak Hotel was released, breaking all long-play records, and the single Heaven And Hell became the best single ever released by a German record company. In the late 1980s. hits of C.C. Ketch topped all the charts of the Scandinavian countries, Eastern Europe and even the USSR, although the Soviet press wrote about the singer very restrainedly: “ Hobbies - aerobics, cutting and sewing. Favorite color is black. For everyday wear, he prefers pale blue jeans and a jacket, combined with a yellow oversized men's shirt. She wears a lush hairstyle to her outfits».

Due to the fact that all the songs for C.C. Ketch were written by Dieter Bohlen, she often heard criticism in her address because her music is too similar to the music of the Modern Talking group. Therefore, one day she asked Dieter Bohlen for permission to record several songs of her own composition for a new album. However, the producer wanted to keep everything under his control and refused the singer. Then C.C. Ketch decided to break off relations with him and go on an independent voyage. Total from 1985 to 1989 they have released 5 albums and 12 singles.

After the singer left Dieter Bohlen, she radically changed her image - she became a brunette with long curls and chose a new musical style. However, in the 1990s. her songs were no longer as popular as before, besides, Dieter Bohlen declared his rights to her pseudonym. After the trial, the name C.C. Ketch was left to Carolina, but she was ordered to pay the former producer several million.

In the early 1990s. For the first time, Si Si Ketch visited the USSR as a guest at the festival of emerging artists "Step to Parnassus". Since then, she came here more than once and acquired a whole army of fans in the countries of the former Soviet Union.

In the 1990s. the singer disappeared from the stage for several years - she decided to take a break in her musical career. During this period, she began to paint, write poetry and songs, and became interested in oriental spiritual practices. In 1998, Carolina Müller married her meditation and yoga teacher, although their marriage lasted only 3 years.

In the new century, the singer decided to return to the stage. She again dyed her hair blonde and tried to resume cooperation with Dieter Bohlen. However, her fame could not be compared with its former success. In the wake of the popularity of music in the 1980-1990s. C.C. Ketch often took part in group concerts, but she was already invited as a star of the era that had already ended for her. Several times she again visited Russia at the festivals "Disco 80s" from "Avtoradio".

In 2010, C.C. Ketch announced that she was leaving the stage, but soon again pleased her fans by appearing at several concerts. Today, the 54-year-old singer continues to perform, but her fame as “queen of disco” is a thing of the past, although her hits have become classics of pop music in their own way. And when asked how she still looks so great, she replies: “ The secret of my youth is love! To look good, you have to fall in love more often! Love is the most important thing in life, no matter what this feeling may be for you».

The disappearance from the screens was also unexpected for the fans.

After leaving school, Karo decided to become a clothing designer - she went to study, and at the same time she worked at a garment factory. This work was a real nightmare for her - a constant race, big and small bosses standing over her soul, unhealthy relationships and constant quarrels in the team; Xi Xi did not have the most rosy memories of that time.

C. C. Catch, Caroline Catharina Müller was born in 1964 in Oss, the Netherlands. Her parents were citizens of different states - a German father lived in Germany (Germany), while her mother, a Dutch citizen, lived with her daughter in her country.

The move to Germany and family reunification, which Carolina's mother had always dreamed of, took place in 1979. In general, even before that, she and her mother had a chance to move many times, change schools and social circle, cities and classmates. Both of them liked Germany very much - both mother and Caroline. After leaving school, Karo decided to become a clothing designer - she went to study, and at the same time she worked at a garment factory. This work was a real nightmare for her - a constant race, big and small bosses standing over the soul, unhealthy relationships and constant quarrels in the team; Xi Xi did not have the most rosy memories of that time.

By a happy coincidence, the situation

in one of the bars, Xi Xi met the musicians, members of the group, who asked whether such a charming girl was dancing or singing, by chance. Since that time, Karo began to consistently build her career - she began to learn to play the guitar, attend vocals, dance, and, moreover, did not miss a single talent competition. Soon Karo was already one of the members of a girl group called "Optimal". Luck smiled at Caro in the mid-80s, when at one of the concerts in Germany her outstanding vocals (she was still singing in a girl-band then) was noticed by Dieter Bohlen, the same Bohlen from Modern Talking, who was then at the very top of his success. Not only a member of the duet, but also its producer, Bohlen found time for another project, the success of which he already saw quite clearly. The audition took place almost immediately, and in the same year Karo signed with Dieter a rather profitable

ntrakt; he also developed the concept, and also came up with a sonorous and memorable name for the new project - C.C.CATCH, consisting of the capital letters of the name of the young singer. The success came with the very first single - released in the same 1985 "I Can Lose My Heart Tonight". The first album of the new star, about which no one really knew anything yet, was called quite original - "Catch the Catch"; This name, of course, was also invented by Bohlen, he also became the author of all the songs on the disc. Inimitable, light as a breeze, the voice of C C Catch literally captivated the disco lovers, and in the shortest time C C became the real Queen of Disco.

Her album went platinum in Germany and was also certified gold in Spain. At the very end of the year, around Christmas, CCE's second album, "Welcome to the Heartbreak Hotel", was released, and the follow-up single "Heaven And Hell" became the best-selling single ever released on a German record label. Her song "Heaven

nd Hell "held the first place of the German" Top 10 "for three weeks. Her songs scattered with great speed across Europe, including Eastern Europe, and for the disco lovers from the former USSR, the name Si Si Catch sounded like a prayer.

In 1987, without exception, all European radio stations played a new C C song - "Are You Man Enough?" Karo herself explained the name of the composition as follows: "This is about those guys who" show off "in front of girls, having nothing for their souls."

The single "Soul Survivor", released the same year, multiplied the fan base; the third studio album to include this song was titled "Like A Hurricane". After the release of the album, she embarked on a major European tour. It is noteworthy that on the cover of this particular disc, Si Xi appeared in a completely new image, which literally shocked her fans. The fact is that her famous hairstyle has disappeared - a huge, in the fashion of those years, bouffant, which until then had been the "business card" of C.C. Catch. From the envelope

ci's new record looked at the fans with a completely short haircut, which was specially made for her in Paris. However, the fans have generously forgiven her for this whim.

In 1988, the single "Backseat Of Your Cadillac" was released, which preceded the album "Big Fun", which was the last collaboration with Dieter Bohlen. By the way, along with her success, the singer was constantly attacked by critics who accused her of the fact that her work did not differ at all from the songs of "Modern Talking". Only a couple of Bohlen-Katch recorded together 12 singles and 5 albums, and it was this duet that was the most "star" arrangement for C.C.

By the way, it was Karo who initiated this gap, underestimating Dieter's help in her "stardom". So, having changed her image and turned into a brunette, she tried to go further alone, starting negotiations with producers. Dieter was quick to remind who exactly was the author of the pseudonym C.C.CATCH, and, therefore, from now on the singer must use something else. After the hard

x litigation, the name was left to the singer, the court, however, awarded her compensation to the former producer.

The album "Hear What I Say", released in 1989, was a kind of challenge to Bohlen - on the disc, in addition to the ambiguous name, a new sound and a new style were heard. However, no resounding success followed. To Bohlen's delight or not, the name C.C. Katch was slowly sinking in the charts, and "Hear What I Say" became C.C.'s last studio album.

She returned in the late 90s, on a wave of European interest in disco music. In 1998, the album "Best of" 98 "was released, and besides, Si Si again, albeit for a short time, worked with Dieter. However, of course, there was no talk of former glory, although her collections were regularly published.

Xi Xi speaks now. The years have not changed her too much - the same cat's green eyes, the same plastic ... However, her projects, of course, are now very different from the early work for which C.C. Catch is known and remembered as the Disco Queen

Having won the song contest "Hello, we are looking for talents!", Carolina received an offer from producer Peter Kent to join the pop group Optimal, which included three more girls who participated in the competition. The quartet became popular, the girls began to tour the country.

In 1985, in Hamburg, the popular German singer and composer Dieter Bohlen, the lead singer of the Modern Talking group, saw a performance. He heard Caroline and asked Peter Kent: "What is this birdie with a diamond voice?" “This is our little Caroline! Golden girl! ”- answered the producer. "Don't try to offend her!" Bohlen invited Caroline to record in his studio. The next day she arrived, began to sing - and an hour later she signed her first professional contract.

In 1985, 21-year-old in Berlin on the set of one of the TV shows Carolina met her first love - the drummer of the Aquamarine group Frank Otto. The singer noticed a guy in tattered jeans and asked the make-up artist who it was. And after filming I went up to him. The acquaintance grew into a whirlwind romance, two weeks later Frank moved to live with her. He also began to determine the schedule of her tour - with Bohlen's blessing, he became her music manager instead of his father.

By the way, he also brought the rising star, who works with Bohlen himself, to the town of Bunde, where she was attacked by classmates as a child. The whole city gathered for her concert! It was the moment of triumph for the singer, who had already been recognized as C.C. Ketch.

1. Despite the fact that CS Ketch devoted most of her life to the stage, the artist does not have a specialized musical education. She began to hone her singing skills with the help of a gift from her father. Jurgen Mülleri bought a microphone and phonograms of the hits, popular at that time, which were very fond of Carolina, and she arranged home "concerts" from morning to evening for his schoolgirl daughter. However, when it came time to choose a future profession, at the insistence of her parents, the girl began to study to be a designer and, at the same time, work in a factory. It was not an easy time for her, as she sometimes had to work 15 hours a day. She endured such a tough schedule for a long time, and then dropped everything and took up a musical career. The father of the aspiring singer supported her bold decision. Jurgen Müller not only became the manager of his daughter, but also spent all his savings to create his own music agency Orbit-music.

2. CS Ketch made her first steps on the stage with the Optimal women's quartet. “It was very hard, a real school of survival. We spent a lot of time together. I learned to work for myself and for myself, for those times I do not miss at all. It's so great to work solo, ”the artist confessed in one interview, but she did not reveal the details of life in the team. Fortunately, the talented artist soon noticed member of the Modern Talking group Dieter Bohlen, who, in fact, made the singer a super-star, having written many hits for her, and most importantly, having invented her sonorous pseudonym Si Si Ketch.

3. “Dieter Bohlen has an unbearable character, he is very authoritarian, so I left him twice. But it was he who instilled in me a taste for good music, for which I am already grateful to him, ”Carolina told reporters. The first discord in this creative tandem ended with numerous trials and a struggle for the singer's pseudonym and her musical material. The producer wanted to deprive the ward of both. He even succeeded, but the Carolina's decent compensation helped smooth out the conflict. It seemed that the cooperation between Bohlen and C.C. Ketch would no longer resume, and yet she returned to him at the beginning of the 2000s to make several joint singles, and then part again, apparently now forever.

4. A solo career without Bohlen's support was not as successful for the singer as she had expected. The new and to date the latest album Hear What I Say failed to attract the attention it deserves, the single Big Time managed to climb only 25th position in the music charts. The girl and her new team clearly hoped for greater success, because earlier with her hits she invariably fell into the top five.

5. SiC Ketch first visited the Russian capital back in the days of the Soviet Union and since then has performed in Moscow several times. And when the fashion for "Disco 80s" appeared, I took part in them with pleasure. In addition, the singer toured extensively in different cities of our country: Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg, Petrozavodsk, etc. Carolina also entered a duet with popular domestic performers: Tatiana Ovsienko, Soso Pavliashviliand the group "Inveterate scammers".

6. At the peak of popularity, the singer met her first great love - aquamarine drummer Frank Otto... Unfortunately, the ending of their romance was rather tragic. The couple broke up when Carolina was in position. The artist had an abortion and could no longer have children. She later made another attempt to build a family, this time with a yoga instructor, but the marriage only lasted a few years. It is unclear whether C.C. Ketch is in any relationship now, the singer avoids communication on personal topics.

7. One of the most frequent questions that almost all journalists ask Caroline is "How do you manage to look so good?" Despite her age, the singer is really in excellent physical shape, although, according to her own admissions, she does nothing special for this: “I don't use anything on purpose. I have the most common moisturizer that can be found in all stores, and to keep my skin firm, I just drink a lot of water and tea. I don't drink coffee or alcohol. That's all, the rest is already an attitude towards life. I try to enjoy it. "
