Another case is not related to the sea, but to the defense of a girl’s honor. In one of the cities, a father had three daughters, but his income was not enough to provide a good dowry. In this situation, he decided to take advantage of the beauty of innocent maidens to improve his financial condition. Having learned about this, Nikolai came to them at night and quietly, so that no one would see, threw a bag of gold into the house. The owner of the house spent this money on a dowry for his eldest daughter, and then married her off. When the middle one grew up, Nikolai visited the house again and left a bag of money. So the second girl got married. The girls' father was very interested in who was helping them like that. When the time came for the last daughter to choose her fate, the man lurked in the darkness, waiting for the night guest. And I was not mistaken. Nikolai came again, threw the bag out the window and left.

The grateful father saw him and rushed after him, fell to his knees and thanked the saint. Nikolai replied that family values ​​are much more valuable than money. He made the shocked man promise not to tell anyone about what happened.

All his life, Nikolai tried to live according to God’s commandments, to protect the weak and innocently convicted. He repeatedly intervened in the political and military actions of those in power in the country, protecting ordinary people from the uncontrollable aggression of soldiers, snatching from the hands of the executioner a raised sword over the heads of people convicted of slander.

After his death, Nikolai did not leave people in need of his help. One day the saint appeared in a dream to the prefect Alabii, threatening death if he refused to release the three slandered governors. That same night the king saw the same dream. Having met in the morning, the politicians ordered the convicts to be brought in. They accused them of sorcery, which brought such dreams to the top officials of the state. The governors began to swear that they did not engage in sorcery, did not organize conspiracies, and served him honestly. Then the king released the governor, presented the Church with a Gospel made of gold, a censer made of the same metal, decorated with jewelry, and also two expensive lamps. He sent the gifts to the Mir Church by the governors, who upon arrival gave thanksgiving praises to the Lord and St. Nicholas for their help.

The death of Saint Nicholas did not stop his miracles. The body had not yet been buried when it began to leak myrrh. Pilgrims flocked to the saint's grave. A basilica was built over the grave, on the site of which the Church of St. Nicholas was built already in the ninth century.
