What McGregor said to Floyd after the fight. McGregor lost to Mayweather in a “duel of the century” and accused the judge of stopping the fight early

American professional boxer Floyd Mayweather defeats Irish fighter MMA mixed martial arts  Conor McGregor The fight was held according to the official rules of boxing, and was stopped in round 10 by decision of the referee.

According to the site, boxing was dubbed the "duel of the century." The event was held in Las Vegas at the Timobail Arena as part of the first middle weight category (up to 69 kilograms). The fight lasted 10 rounds, during which Mayweather confidently increased his advantage over the opponent. By the fifth round, McGregor was simply tired, he began to miss a lot of accurate punches of the opponent and did not respond to his attacks. In round 10, McGregor was already struggling to stand on his feet, and the fight was stopped by the referee, who awarded Mayweather a victory by TKO.

It is interesting that Mayweather himself after the fight admitted that "his rival held out much better than he expected, but the battle went completely according to his plan." Although McGregor acknowledged the superiority of the winner, he considered that “the referee stopped the match too soon,” and said that “it would be better if he was knocked out for real.” According to McGregor, "Floyd is not as fast and powerful as before, and in general, none of the fighters had a serious advantage." Therefore, the fight should have continued until the full knockout of one of the fighters, and the referee should not interfere in the match.

After the fight, Floyd Mayweather declared that this was his last fight, and he ended his career undefeated. In total, the legendary boxer spent 50 fights without losing a single one, and thus exceeded the record of the legendary Rocky Marciano, who had 49 unbeatable fights during his career.

For his victory, Floyd Mayweather received immediately $ 100 million (and $ 100 million extra in bonuses), and Conor McGregor earned $ 30 million as a fee and almost $ 70 million extra. In addition, Mayweather received a special “money belt” from the World Boxing Council. The championship belt is made of one and a half kilograms of pure gold, and is also trimmed with 3360 diamonds, 600 sapphires, 160 emeralds and crocodile skin. The battle itself brought record earnings to all the organizers. According to the site, at least 50 million Americans watched it as a paid broadcast.

The Millennium Fight ended with the victory of Floyd Mayweather. In Las Vegas, an American boxer fought with the mixed martial arts champion, Irish Conor McGregor. The meeting ended with a technical knockout.

Almost 15 thousand viewers around the ring in Las Vegas and millions on television around the world. The legendary boxer Floyd Mayweiser and the champion of the fighting without rules Conor McGregor gathered a record number of his fans who have long wondered whether the fighter from Ireland will be able to defeat the boxing champion.

Experts have already dubbed this fight the most expensive in boxing history. Still would. Two kings met in the ring. Floyd Mayweiser is the undisputed champion who is already 21 years in professional boxing. He spent 49 fights, never losing. Conor McGregor is the best fighter in the UFC, mixed martial arts championship. At the age of 29, he had already fought 21 battles, three of which ended in defeat. Floyd Mayweather spoke about this a lot in joint skirmishes for several months before the fight.

The preparations for the battle of the two champions were very noisy. The fighters did not skimp on emotions. World newspapers even called the show weighting. But all this fueled interest in the fight.

The popular rock band The Killers even redid their video by inserting the footage of two fighters that the whole world seems to have talked about in recent months. All this hype has raised ticket prices to incredible amounts. The cost of the counter frame in the forefront reached 100 thousand dollars. The organizers promised that the Mayweiser, regardless of the outcome of the battle, will receive $ 100 million, McGregor - 30. But this is not the final amount.

Almost all boxing experts put the fact that American will win Floyd Mayweiser. Conor Magregor is a good fighter, but not in boxing. And the expectations of experts began to come true after the fourth round. Floyd from the very beginning set the pace in the ring. Slowly he pierced the defense of the Irish. Until round 10, he beat exclusively in the corps, exhausting Conor. When McGregor was so tired that he couldn’t raise his arms to defend himself, Mayweisrer Serey of blows to the head finished the fight. The referee stopped the fight by declaring a technical knockout.

After the battle, experts disagreed. Some said it should have happened, McGregor had no chance, others wrote in support of Conor, surprised at his stamina.

“Be that as it may, neither give nor take, Floyd Mayweather has 50 wins and 0 losses, he won! McGregor was disciplined in his debut fight and showed good boxing skills, ”said Vladimir Klitschko.

“A very large and cool circus. The show is cool, but it has nothing to do with sports. But for not-so-sophisticated people it’s super, ”said Andrey Ryabinsky, head of the Boxing World promotion company.

At the end of the match, McGregor went up to Mayweiser to express his admiration and congratulate him on his 50th victory. This is an absolute record in professional boxing, and the legendary boxer has definitely finished this career. Unlike McGregor, who promised that he would enter the ring more than once. It remains a mystery on which rig - boxing or mixed martial arts.

American boxer Floyd Mayweather defeated Irish fighter Connor McGregor in a fight in Las Vegas. In the tenth round, the referee stopped the bout and fixed a technical knockout

The first few rounds of this fight turned out to be equal. McGregor acted a little more actively and several times got the opponent with mild blows to the head, while Mayweather tried to hit the opponent in the body, as well as make him spend energy on constant movement around the ring. Magregor in these rounds received several comments from the judge for hitting an opponent in the back of the head.

In the sixth round, for the first time in a fight, the American sharply increased his speed and managed to carry out two series of attacks, almost each of which hit the target. McGregor responded with a blow to the liver, but Mayweather's attack was more powerful, and the round remained with the American.

From the very beginning of the second half of the battle, Mayweather began to strike at the opponent’s head and seized the initiative in this fight. McGregor, who had previously had fights of no more than 25 minutes, began to tire and miss shots. In the ninth round, the Irish had to clinch twice to avoid a knockout, as Mayweather got into the head with direct punches. In the tenth round, Mayweather continued to hit the opponent in the head, McGregor barely stood on his feet several times, and the referee stopped the match, recording Mayweather's victory.

The fight was held according to the rules of boxing. The fight was designed for 12 rounds of three minutes. For McGregor, this fight was the first boxing fight in his career. Before that, he fought only according to the rules of mixfight, where fights are designed for a maximum of five rounds of five minutes.

The battle between Mayweather and McGregor was not a title fight - the winner received only the symbolic belt Money Belt, made of crocodile leather and gold and decorated with 3360 diamonds, 600 sapphires and 300 emeralds. Approximately the cost of the belt is estimated at $ 1 million.

The fee of the battle participants did not depend on its outcome. Mayweather is guaranteed to receive $ 100 million for this fight, his opponent - $ 30 million. This amount does not include interest on the sale of rights to broadcast the battle, tickets, souvenirs and sponsorship deductions. In total, according to preliminary forecasts, Mayweather will receive about $ 400 million for the battle, McGregor - about $ 127 million.

The fight should be the highest gross in the history of martial arts - it is estimated that box office revenues will amount to more than $ 600 million. The final amount can be called after the calculation of funds from the sales of the broadcast of the match has been summed up.

McGregor and Mayweather agreed to conduct a battle between themselves in June 2017. The initiator of the fight was an Irishman, who at the end of 2016 won the next champion title in the UFC and became the first in the history of promotion holder of a belt in two weight categories. McGregor challenged Mayweather to a fight, and for the sake of this fight the American boxer decided to return to the sport for a while. The American agreed to accept McGregor's challenge only on the condition that the fight will take place according to boxing rules. Thus, the Irishman lost the opportunity to kick and fight on the ground.

Mayweather, before meeting with McGregor, last entered the ring in 2015, after which he announced the end of his career. The American does not plan to continue to fight - the fight against McGregor, according to him, will be the last for him. Before meeting with the Irishman, Mayweather won all 49 fights, including 26 by knockout.

The Irishman retained a sense of humor even after defeat.

“The first rounds were pretty easy for me. Floyd had to change the style, I pay tribute, he adapted and did it - raised his hands and went forward. He was calm.

He was not so quick or strong, but Floyd was calm and collected. Respect for him for his career.

I thought that the fight was stopped a little early: I would like to hit the ring. The referee should have let me continue. He was perfectly prepared for strikes, 50 professional fights affect. I was tired. The judge could let me continue, letting him drop me.

Will I be back in the UFC now? Of course, ”said MacGregor after the fight with Mayweather.

  • Floyd Mayweather defeated McGregor by TKO in the tenth round.
  • For the Irishman, this fight was the first in a professional boxing ring.
  • McGregor spent 24 fights in mixed martial arts and suffered 3 defeats.

The American Floyd Mayweather after defeating Conor McGregor emphasized that he expected less resistance from the Irish. Note that the 40-year-old boxer before this fight did not enter the ring for two years. The fight with McGregor was stopped by the judge in the 10th round. Mayweather now has 50 wins in 50 professional fights.

“McGregor is a heavy opponent,” Mayweather quotes Mirror. - We were able to give fans what they wanted to see. He was much better than I expected. But today I was the best in the ring.

Our plan was not to force things, not to rush, and then knock out McGregor in the final stretch of the battle. We wanted his best and most powerful blows to be delivered at the start. After 25 minutes of battle, McGregor began to act more slowly.

Boxing is a tough sport, MMA is a tough sport. So I want to thank the fans for their support. My plan was to go forward and not back down. I would not be able to achieve a result of 50-0 without my fans. Rocky Marciano is a legend, and one day I hope to also enter the boxing hall of fame.

Black and white movie. Mayweather knocked out McGregor

Boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. won an early victory over MMA fighter, UFC champion Conor McGregor.

Last weekend in Las Vegas, a 40-year-old 12-time world champion in five weight categories, an American (50-0-0, 27 KO) defeated a 29-year-old Irish champion MMA fighter MMA champion of the century Conor McGregor  (0-1-0). Putting aside emotions (there are so many polar opinions due to the fact that there were not only two heroes in the ring, but also essentially two sports - boxing and MMA), we decided to look at the results of the match through the prism of numbers and dry statistics.

We bring to your attention an analysis of the battle in the round-storyboard, where we pay attention to the strikes / hit zone (jab, cross, hook, swing, uppercut), defense (block, bias, clinch, arm protection) and moving around the ring (forward, backward, right, left, acceleration forward, acceleration back), and also make a general conclusion regarding the quantity and quality of actions of both fighters.

1st round

According to the referee's notes, in which, according to the results of 9 rounds of the fight, Floyd confidently led (89-82, 87-83, 84-81), the American had the biggest problems at the very beginning of the fight. So, all three side referees unanimously gave the first round to the Irishman. This is confirmed by statistics, according to which MacGregor threw 32 shots (six hit the target, 18.7%), Floyd delivered three shots (one exact 33.3%).

2nd round

In the second three-minute period, McGregor continued to occupy the center of the ring, squeezing the opponent to the ropes (Conor delivered 34 hits, 6 on target, 17.6%). Floyd continued to work in number two, in a wait-and-see manner, blocking himself with a high block, he only occasionally responded to the opponent’s active actions (Mayweather delivered 8 shots, all of them were crosses, 4 of them reached the goal, 50%). At the same time, compared with the first round, Mayweather acted well in defense, taking 13 strokes per block, left 15 due to the work of the hull and blocked three punches due to the work of his hands.

3rd round

The third segment was the final, in which one of the three side referees gave the victory to the Irishman on his card. MacGregor continued to fill up the blows, but his scope was not as accurate as before (25 threw, 3 reached the target, 25%). At the same time, Floyd continued to rely on single power strikes (8 delivered, of which 2 accurate, 12%), while continuing to work perfectly with the body, thus evading 17 opponent strikes.

4th round

The first round, which remained entirely with Mayweather. Floyd began to increase the number of shots thrown (22 delivered, 9 on target, 40.9%), increasingly getting involved with an opponent in exchanges. Perhaps the American in this way provoked the opponent to action. One way or another, McGregor answered and did not slow down the number of punches, which cannot be said about their quality, which was noticeably damaged (40 hit, 10 on target, 23.2%). At the same time, Mayweather became more active on his feet. For the first time in 12 minutes of combat, fighters overcame an equal distance (26 meters).

5th round

In the fifth round, the number of total hits by McGregor began to fall (26 delivered, 5 on target, 19.2%). At the same time, the Irishman remained mobile on his feet, which allowed him to create a visual picture of the fact that everything was in order. However, the numbers say the opposite, and it was the fifth round that became the last more or less competitive in this confrontation.

6th round

The segment in which Mayweather first beat the opponent in the total number of strikes delivered (32 delivered, 10 on target, 31.2%). At the same time, Conor slowed down noticeably and for the first time since the start of the battle he overcame a distance of 25.7 meters in the ring perimeter. Floyd walked 31.6 meters, which once again indicates that the American was increasing pace from round to round. McGregor managed to respond with 26 throws, 5 of which reached the target, while most of them were not power.

7th round

The round in which Floyd made a real hunt for the opponent’s head. For the first time, all blows that reached the target were delivered to the head region (43 delivered, 10 to the target, 23.2%). Conor was forced to leave the line of attack, he succeeded due to the work of his legs, which resulted in statistics. Conor had never run like this in the seventh round (the Irishman overcame 31.7 meters).

8th round

McGregor relied on active work with his front hand and hit sideways with a sweeping stroke (32 hit, 6 on target, 18.7%). At the same time, he dodged a good attack from the opponent’s body, but this didn’t help him save much fuel, which was ending before his eyes. Floyd slightly weakened activity (26 delivered, 6 on target, 27.7%), but this was only the calm before the storm.

9th round

The first alarm bell for Conor sounded precisely in the ninth segment. McGregor showed the worst attacking activity (22 hit, 5 on target, 22.7%) and completely failed in defense. Although, more correctly, this Floyd was so good that he could seat the opponent on canvas at any convenient time (49 hit, 17 on target, 34.6%). At the same time, Mayweather began to work as diversely as possible in the attack, punching for the most part power attacks on the body / head, and increasingly searched for the opportunity to inflict a dense uppercut (3 out of 3 exact uppercuts per round).

The fight between the undefeated boxing legend Floyd Meweather Jr. and one of the main UFC stars Conor McGregor, which took place on August 27, which has already become history, is still a topic of discussion among boxing and mixed martial arts lovers. The main question: what was it all the same? Sports duel, show, banal making money on names or finding out what, as they say, is cooler - boxing or mix?

Who are all these people?

To ask who Floyd Mayweather Jr. is, among boxing fans, is not just a bad man. Such a question immediately raises a person who, in fact, has never been interested in boxing - from the word “completely”. Well, let's say, this is practically the same as asking, and who is Mohammed Ali. That is, to ask who Cassius Clay is, this is still gone. Still, it is not necessary for a very young generation of fans of this sport to know the real name of Mohammed. But to know Mayweather Jr., who literally “finished” his career yesterday, is necessary. The same applies to Conor McGregor, if we talk about lovers of mixed martial arts, the so-called mix. Moreover, Conor just did not go anywhere. He is still an active fighter, although he earned in last battle  with Meweather so much that, he said, he had enough for the rest of his life.

Mayweather, aka Sinclair, aka Pretty Boy ...

Why Sinclair? Yes, simply because this is the name of his mother, which at first was also Floyd Jr. But then he took the name of his father. And, again, the reason is commonplace. His father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., is also a boxer. Moreover, the boxer is very famous, who once opposed the legendary Sugar Ray Leonard. Professional boxers were Floyd's uncles - Jeff Mayweather and Roger Mayweather. That is, there was simply nowhere to get away from boxing Floyd. Moreover, the life of his family was not a "life in chocolate." For example, his father was serving a term in prison. And at this time, according to the memoirs of Mayweather Jr., he lived with his mother, sometimes they did not have electricity, but there were seven people in one bedroom. In the end, Floyd abandoned the school and focused on boxing, seeing in the career of a fighter the only way to escape from poverty. He succeeded to the fullest. His talent fully manifested itself already in amateur boxingwhere he got the nickname Pretty Boy, because he practically didn’t get strong blows  in the face in battles. And he spent ninety fights, in eighty-four of which he won.
