What rules the world - reason or feeling? What is more important: think or feel? What is more important than a solid mind or tender feelings

Composition in the direction: Reason and feeling. Graduation essay 2016-2017

Reason and feeling: can they own a person at the same time, or are they mutually exclusive concepts? Is it true that, in a fit of feelings, a person commits both base deeds and great discoveries that drive evolution and progress? What is an impassive mind, cold calculation capable of? Finding answers to these questions has occupied the best minds of humanity since life began. And this dispute, which is more important - reason or feeling, has been waged since antiquity, and everyone has their own answer. “People live by feelings,” says Erich Maria Remarque, but then adds that in order to realize this, you need a mind.

On the pages of world fiction, the problem of the influence of human feelings and reason is raised very often. So, for example, in the epic novel by Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy, "War and Peace", two types of heroes appear: on the one hand, it is impetuous Natasha Rostova, sensitive Pierre Bezukhov, fearless Nikolai Rostov, on the other - the arrogant and calculating Helen Kuragina and her brother, callous Anatole. Many conflicts in the novel arise precisely from the excess of feelings of the heroes, the vicissitudes of which are very interesting to observe. A striking example of how an impulse of feelings, thoughtlessness, ardor of character, impatient youth, influenced the fate of the heroes, is the case of Natasha's betrayal, because for her, laughing and young, it was incredibly long to wait for the wedding with Andrei Bolkonsky, could she subdue her unexpectedly flared feelings for Anatol the voice of reason? Here we have a real drama of mind and feelings in the soul of the heroine, she faces a difficult choice: to leave the groom and leave with Anatole, or not to succumb to a momentary impulse and wait for Andrey. It was in favor of feelings that this difficult choice was made, only an accident prevented Natasha. We cannot condemn a girl, knowing her impatient character and thirst for love. It was feelings that dictated Natasha's impulse, after which she regretted her act when she analyzed it.

It was the feeling of boundless, all-consuming love that helped Margarita to reunite with her lover in Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov's novel The Master and Margarita. The heroine, without hesitation for a second, gives her soul to the devil and goes with him to the ball, where murderers and gallows kiss her knee. Rejecting a wealthy, measured life in a luxurious mansion with a loving husband, she rushes into an adventurous adventure with evil spirits. Here is a vivid example of how a person, having chosen a feeling, created his own happiness.
Thus, the statement of Erich Maria Remarque is completely true: guided only by reason, a person can live, but it will be a colorless, dull and joyless life, only feelings give life indescribable bright colors, leaving emotionally filled memories. As the great classic Lev Nikolaevich Tolstoy wrote: "If we assume that human life can be controlled by reason, then the very possibility of life will be destroyed."

The clash of reason and feeling is a problem for all generations. Nature arranged the inner world of man in such a way that the struggle between them is inevitable. Writers and artists often touch on this topic in their creations, because it is relevant for everyone. All this was reflected to a greater extent on the writers, their reflections on what heroes should be and their values in life.

What should be stronger in a person: reason or feelings? Probably everyone will answer this question in their own way. Or maybe they are equally important for a person, and one simply cannot exist without the other, if a person relies solely on his mind, then in the end he may become insensitive, all emotions in him will fade away, he will keep himself within strict limits, so as not to show unnecessary feelings. He will condemn people for an overabundance of emotions that he will not be able to experience himself.

If a person listens only to feelings, he can become a hostage of his emotions and experiences. This will only lead to the fact that a person begins to feel sorry for himself and indulge his desires, it will be difficult to regain his will back. Some focus on reason, and listen to feelings in necessary situations. In AIBunin's story "Sunstroke" we see an example of the contradiction between reason and feelings, because both heroes understood that they could not have a common future. Their love, came as one of the brightest moments in life, it was like a flash or sunstroke. People succumbed to this fleeting passion, could not cope with their feelings and emotions that rushed over them. This blow left a scar in the lieutenant's soul, but time will pass, and he will again be able to look at the world with a smile, recalling that novel as one of the pleasant moments in his life. If the heroes could cope with their feelings, not succumb to temptation, then nothing would have happened, there would not have been those wonderful emotions and worries that they experienced. Without passion and passion, life would be boring and monotonous. Perhaps the woman lacked love, and she found it in the lieutenant, albeit for a short time. But at the same time, one can assume that if it were not for the emotions that eclipsed the mind, there would be no suffering and sorrow of the parting of the heroes.

As Belinsky said: "Reason and feeling are two forces, equally needing each other, they are dead and insignificant one without the other." A person, as much as he would not like, will never be able to control feelings, because they do not give in to any rules and laws. And the mind will always go against emotions. But they have one thing in common - they determine the actions of a person, these two components cannot be separated.

There are questions that humanity has not been able to answer for centuries. Philosophical disputes about what should be in priority: thought or feeling - do not subside today.

At first glance, the answer is simple. If the presence of consciousness and the ability to think is the main difference between humans and animals, then the rational principle should be a priority. But even plants are endowed with the ability to feel.

On the other hand, opponents of this opinion will rightly point out that human feelings are much more complex than the feelings of other living beings. It is impossible to imagine an animal experiencing pangs of conscience or burning envy. No one, except a person, can feel the thrill of contemplating the beauty of nature or a work of art.

So maybe there is no priority? Could it be that thought and feeling are equally important? To try to answer this question, let us turn to Russian literature, especially since this topic has been repeatedly raised by the classics.

Getting acquainted with the first pages of the comedy A.S. Griboyedov, the reader immediately draws attention to the blindness of the mind of Sophia, who completely surrendered to the feeling for the unprincipled careerist Molchalin. "Blinded" by falling in love with the scoundrel Anatol Kuragin and Natasha Rostov from the epic of L.N. Tolstoy's War and Peace. Both heroines were unable to see unworthy young people, because they temporarily lost the ability to think soberly.

And in Pushkin's novel in verse the ardent Lensky, stung by the fact that Onegin dances with Olga all evening, recklessly challenges his yesterday's friend to a duel and as a result dies.

But relying only on reason also leads to tragic consequences. We see an example of total denial of feelings in the main character of the novel by I.S. Turgenev. Bazarov believes that love does not exist, so he finds himself trapped in his own nihilistic ideas when he passionately falls in love with Olga Odintsova. The writer shows that such a contradiction is insoluble, so Eugene dies. You cannot give up feelings, because it is tantamount to death.

In Masha Mironova from "The Captain's Daughter" by A.S. Pushkin, on the contrary, we see an example of a happy combination of reason and feeling. The girl loves Grinev, but refuses to become his wife without the blessing of Peter's parents. Masha understands that their marriage will not be happy against the will of the groom's father and mother. As we remember from the further development of events in the novel, the girl's decision turned out to be correct.

In my opinion, thought and feeling should be harmoniously combined in a person. The more accurate the balance between the rational and the sensual in a person, the happier and fuller his life. It is for the harmony of mind and heart that each of us should strive.

The material was prepared by Natalya Aleksandrovna Zubova, the creator of the SAMARUS online school.

Mianie Mikhail Yurievich: "Wisdom, Love and Power - the Trinity of the Human Soul" .

These are three equally important foundations for the harmonious development of any person, each Soul.

The rejection of one and the absolute deification of the other leads a person to extremes and dead ends, which inevitably makes development one-sided, and a person somewhat limited and weak.

This becomes obvious when viewed from an esoteric point of view.

When a person says “ they say, the most important thing is love, and everything else does not matter ..."- he automatically devalues and blocks other centers of his Soul, which are responsible for Force and Struggle (, etc.), for reason, understanding, decision-making (etc.), etc. Although it is obvious that you need to develop all the components and Souls of a person.

Such people, accustomed to going to extremes, often fall into the traps of their own mind. When, for example, a person confuses love with self-pity, etc. On such substitutions, many weaknesses are cultivated in a person.

Such people, more often than not, do not want to understand and admit that in order for great love to live and shine for the whole world in your heart, you must become a very strong and intelligent person!

After all, what kind of love can live in the untrained heart of a foolish and weak person? Each person in this life can only have what he is able to protect. A person who is weak in spirit, will and mind will have the same love, until the first offense, until the first critical word addressed to him, until the first upset.

If a person is weak, his bright feelings can be destroyed by the first comer, the very first trouble or obstacle on the way, with which he will not have the strength to cope.

In the same way, power without love loses all meaning, and without reason it must necessarily become destructive and uncontrollable. Any extreme - inevitably leads to negative consequences.

Feelings, Reason or Strength - which is more important?

1. A person has a mind, consciousness, thinking, mind - therefore, he needs the right knowledge, wisdom to make the strongest and wisest decisions that lead to effective action and the most positive consequences. That's why they say "Knowledge is primary", they either make a person successful and wise, or stupid and incapable of anything. Knowledge determines beliefs! Positive and strong beliefs lead us to success and happiness, negative and rotten beliefs make a person weak, stupid, spineless, untenable.

2. Likewise, a person has a heart, first of all, his Spiritual Heart (), in which, ideally, tall light ones live. Refusal of love, of feelings - makes a person incomplete, poor, callous and unhappy, as well as refusal of reason makes a person stupid. Therefore, Feelings, Love must be developed and cultivated so that the heart and soul are alive, in order to experience joy and happiness, and positive impressions from life in an excellent degree.

You need to understand that "a holy place is never empty", and if bright feelings, such as joy, gratitude, respect, love, do not live in your heart, negative feelings and emotions will accumulate in your heart (, claims, contempt, dislike, etc.).

3. A person needs strength as well as Feelings and Reason. Life is not a walk in rose petals. There is everything in life - both creation and struggle, and gifts and trials. Because in our world there are both and! And in order not to break, not to be trampled by someone, humiliated and destroyed - a person must become Strong! At any time he can send you a test. You can go through it with dignity if you are strong in Spirit and Will, or - break down, lose faith, close yourself in a shell and live the rest of your life as a loser in a state of insignificance, if you are weak!

The levels of destiny, the levels of goals in life, where a person can ascend, are the levels of his strength. If a person is weaker in his spirit, willpower, in his personal qualities does not correspond to the desired goal - it remains unattainable. For this, spiritual and energetic development exists, for this, personal growth is needed in order to become stronger and achieve tomorrow those goals that you could not achieve today.

What strength does a person need: strength of mind, willpower, energy strength, strength of personal qualities (responsibility, stability, discipline, etc.), etc.

Therefore, do not give up anything, but develop in yourself all three components of the Human Soul: reason, love and strength - equally!

Best regards, Vasily Vasilenko

An essay on the topic "What controls a person to a greater extent: mind or feelings?"

What controls a person to a greater extent: mind or feelings? In order to answer this question, you need to define its main components. Reason is the ability of a person to think logically: analyze, establish causal relationships, find meanings, draw conclusions, formulate principles. And feelings are the emotional experiences of a person that arise in the process of his relationship with the outside world. Feelings are formed and developed during the development and education of a person.

It seems to many that one needs to live only by reason, and they are somewhat right. Reason is given to a person so that he thinks over everything and makes the right decisions. But feelings are also given to man. They always struggle with the mind, showing that it is they who should be paid more attention. Feelings are important for each of us: they help make ours more intense and interesting. Sometimes the heart tells us one thing, and the brain tells us the opposite. How to be? I would like them to live in peace and not argue with each other, but this is unattainable. The soul wants freedom, celebration, fun ... And the mind tells us that we need to work, work, take care of everyday little things so that they do not accumulate into insoluble everyday problems. Two opposing forces are pulling the reins of power each, so in different situations we are governed by different motives.

Many writers and poets raised the topic of the struggle between reason and feelings. So, for example, in William Shakespeare's tragedy "Romeo and Juliet" the main characters belong to the clans of Montague and Capulet, warring among themselves. Everything is against the feelings of young people, and the voice of reason advises everyone not to succumb to the outbreak of love. But emotions turn out to be stronger, and even in the death of Romeo and Juliet they did not want to part. We never know for sure what will happen if feelings prevail over reason, but Shakespeare showed us a tragic development of events. And we willingly believe him, because a similar plot has been repeated more than once both in world culture and in life. The heroes are just teenagers who probably fell in love for the first time. If they tried to at least calm down the ardor and try to negotiate with their parents, I doubt that the Montecs or Capulets would have preferred the death of their children. They would most likely compromise. However, adolescents in this situation did not have enough wisdom and worldly experience to achieve their goal in other, reasonable ways. Sometimes feelings act as our inner intuition, but it also happens that this is just a momentary impulse that is better to contain. I think Romeo and Juliet succumbed to the impulse of their age rather than instinctively establishing an unbreakable bond. Love would push them to solve the problem, not suicide. Such a sacrifice is only the command of capricious passion.

In the story "The Captain's Daughter" we also observe a clash between reason and feeling. Pyotr Grinev, having learned that his beloved Masha Mironova is forcibly held by Shvabrin, who wants to force the girl to marry him, in spite of the voice of reason, turns to Pugachev for help. The hero knows that this could threaten him with death, because the connection with a state criminal was severely punished, but he does not abandon his plan and as a result retains his own life and honor, and later gets Masha as his legal wife. This example is an illustration of the fact that the voice of feeling is necessary for a person in making a final decision. He helped save the girl from unfair oppression. If the young man only thought and thought, he would not be able to love until self-sacrifice. But Grinev did not neglect his reason: he made a mental plan of how to help his beloved as effectively as possible. He did not register as a traitor, but took advantage of the location of Pugachev, who appreciated the courageous and strong character of the officer.

Thus, I can conclude that in a person both reason and feelings should be strong. The extremes should not be preferred; a compromise must always be found. What choice to make in a given situation: submit to feelings or listen to the voice of reason? How to avoid an internal conflict between these two "elements"? Everyone must answer these questions himself. And a person also makes a choice independently, a choice on which sometimes not only the future, but also life itself can depend.

Interesting? Keep it on your wall!
