Crocheted cosmetic bag is comfortable, soft, beautiful. If you choose a good pattern, you get a wonderful copy even without additional decor. I got such a “marshmallow” cosmetic bag for a young princess of seven years. Because the child categorically did not want to be content with one pattern, “at least a rose” was required, this requirement had to be satisfied.
Yarn for knitting - acrylic. For children (and not only children), handbags, cosmetic bags, it is good because, firstly, it is not covered with spools, secondly, it tolerates even numerous washings, and thirdly, it is not rubbed like cotton threads, not adapted for active use, which means it will retain a presentable appearance for a relatively long time.
Our crocheted cosmetic bag is in the shape of a parallelepiped, but thanks to the softness of the knitting and the special, as if round, pattern, the lines are softened. Due to the volume, the cosmetic bag is convenient: it is possible to place rather voluminous objects in it, at least a set of 48 felt-tip pens, at least a variety of rubber bands, bows, rings, beads. And if we are talking about an adult young lady, then cosmetics in such a repository will also certainly be convenient.
For crocheted cosmetic bags I needed:
acrylic yarn of two colors - pink and dairy, preferably of the same quality and thickness;
a hook suitable for yarn size;
zipper;
a piece of light knitwear or (better) any inelastic cotton fabric - calico or chintz fits perfectly;
sewing threads in tone of one of the colors of yarn;
sewing needle;
cutting and small scissors;
contrasting thread for basting;
marker or pencil for cutting the lining;
if there is a sewing machine.
Crochet cosmetic bag: description and outline
Determine the size of the future cosmetic bag
We will knit a double rectangle, open at the top, without seams. In order to calculate the dimensions of the base rectangle:
- for the long side: add the width to the desired length of the cosmetic bag;
- for the short side: we also add width to the desired height of the cosmetic bag.
For example: you want to get a finished cosmetic bag 20 cm long, 7 cm high and 5 cm wide. So, you need to connect the rectangle with the open part on the upper (long) side with sides 25 cm (i.e. 20 + 5) and 12 cm (i.e. 7 + 5).
Crocheting the outside of the makeup bag
Pattern Pattern:
I knitted according to the above scheme, slightly improving it: if you make the pattern two-tone, I recommend that between the lush rows not one, but two rows of single crochet be made.
1. We knit a chain of air loops. In our case, we start knitting from pink yarn. The length of the chain in a slightly stretched form should be the length of the long part of the rectangle.
Because one pattern repeat is a multiple of 4 loops, I advise you to make an initial chain of air loops in an amount multiple of four.
2. Next, we knit a number of single crochet columns, capturing only one side of each air loop. Having reached the edge, then we knit a row of single crochet, capturing the remainder of each loop from the initial chain, i.e. knit in a circle. Having finished the circular row, close it with a deaf loop. Do the same with each subsequent row - close it with a deaf loop.
3. Change the color of the yarn. We knit two circles of crochets with yarn of milky color.
4. Change the color of the yarn to pink. We knit a row in this way: 3 vp lifting, * double crochet with a left shift, one more double crochet. We knit the last column with 1 double crochet with the base in the first, previously missed loop of the previous row (see diagram) *. Repeat from * to * to the end of the row.

5. Repeat steps 3-4 to the desired rectangle height.
Lining and stitching zippers; assembly of knitted cosmetic bags
From a fabric folded in half, we cut out a straight-headed man of the same size as a knitted cosmetic bag on the outside. The fold on the fabric should coincide with the bottom on the knitted rectangle. Seam allowances are not needed. We lay the side seams (on a sewing machine or manually - as convenient) - we get a lining of the right size, slightly smaller than the knitted part.
We turn the knitted part inside out, and the lining on the front part. We put the knitted part into the lining and straighten it well.
We straighten the corners on both sides of the rectangle and pin them off with a pin, as shown in the photo below.
We recall the school course in mathematics and calculate at what distance from the corner a seam should be laid along line b to get a crocheted cosmetic bag of the planned width.
The formula is: 2a² \u003d b²
A simpler option is to put the ruler perpendicular to the fold in the lining of the cosmetic bag and shift it down until the length b is equal to the width of the cosmetic bag. In our case, b is equal to the width of the cosmetic bag.
If b \u003d 5 cm, then a² \u003d b²: 2 \u003d 5x5: 2 \u003d 12.5
The square root of 12.5 cm is approximately 3.53 cm. This is side a.
Line b can be drawn with a pencil, and then lay a line along it, through all four layers of the lining and the knitted part, manually or on a sewing machine.
Make such lines for both lower corners of the cosmetic bag, and then for the upper ones, aligning the upper sections of the cosmetic bag as if they were sewn up.
We turn the stitched corners to the end of the cosmetic bags inside it and fasten with several stitches.
Sew a zipper. We put it between the upper cut of the lining and the edge of the knitted part of the cosmetic bag and weave both parts of the zipper with a thread of contrasting color. Swing the lock back and forth several times to check if there has been a displacement; Does the product skew when the zipper is in the closed state, or if the lock runs over yarn or fabric. If everything is in order, we sew the zipper on the machine or manually.
Many beginner needlewomen crochet seems much more complicated than knitting. We assure you this is not so. You can learn how to crochet on the very first evening.
And not just master several types of loops, but even tie the finished product. Of course, we do not mean knitting a sweater or top in one evening, but it’s quite possible to tie such a cosmetic bag even to those who have never had a hook in their hands. - 1 large bead in a yellow-orange-red gamut of oblong shape.
How to knit a makeup bag
We make a chain of 44 air loops, make 1 air lifting loop and knit with single crochet to a height of 24 cm. Finish knitting.
Assembly
- Fold the part of our almost finished cosmetic bag in half, sew the side edges so that the seams “look” inward.
- Sew on the zipper.
- We sew the beads at an arbitrary distance from each other along the line of the fastener on a knitted fabric. We alternate the beads in the following order: red, orange, yellow, red, orange, yellow, and so on, until all the beads are sewn.
- We cut about 15-20 cm of thread, we thread it into the hole in the runner on the fastener and weave a pigtail of arbitrary length from the thread. As soon as the pigtail is ready, we thread its ends through the hole of the large bead and tie the threads to two or three knots. The bead will play the role of a limiter, so that the pigtail on the slider will not be untwisted.
