Theater of the Russian army. Theater of the Russian Army Theater of the Soviet Army Playbill for February

The huge five-pointed star - the building of the theater of the Red Army - is a monument not only of theatrical architecture. This is a monument to the era of hard trials and great enthusiasm. It was built from 1934 to 1940. The best monumental artists took part in the design of the theater: the frescoes of the acoustic ceiling were painted by Lev Bruni, the reinforced concrete curtain-portal was made according to the sketches of the wonderful graphic artist Vladimir Favorsky by his sons Nikita and Ivan. The plafonds over the buffets in the amphitheater were created by Alexander Deineka and Ilya Feinberg. Picturesque panels by Pavel Sokolov-Skal and Alexander Gerasimov adorned the grand marble staircases. Furniture, shades and chandeliers were made by special orders.

The stage mechanics, designed by engineer Ivan Maltsin, to this day work practically without repair - two huge circles revolve, and twelve lifting platforms can turn a stage tablet from a stadium into a mountain landscape, helping theater artists to realize all conceivable and unimaginable designs for stage design of performances.

On September 14, 1940, the new building of the theater was opened with the play "Commander Suvorov" by I. Bakhterev and A. Razumovsky - in the Great Hall. Two weeks later, on the Small Stage, the audience saw "The Bourgeoisie" by Maxim Gorky. Since then, these scenes have presented the audience with more than three hundred premieres and about forty-five thousand performances.

Leading the Army Theater from 1935 to 1958, Alexei Dmitrievich Popov built it as an artistic and distinctive organism, defining the creative credo and program. His passion for harmony, for creating the artistic integrity of the performance, his ability to place in a space that amazed the imagination, folk scenes where human destinies flashed, his simplicity, intelligence, deep human decency, all this for many years determined the level of the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army. The performances he staged - "Commander Suvorov", "A long time ago", "Admiral's flag", "Stalingradians", "Front", "Wide steppe", became classics in the history of Russian theatrical art.

The artistic baton from his father was taken by his son - People's Artist of the USSR Andrei Alekseevich Popov, a wonderful artist, director and teacher who headed the theater from 1963 to 1973.

The main directors of the theater in different years were Y. Zavadsky, A. Dunaev, R. Goryaev, Y. Eremin, L. Kheifets, the main artists were N. Shifrin, P. Belov, I. Sumbatashvili.

Such wonderful performances as "The Dance Teacher", "The Ocean", "The Holy of Holies" and "The Drummer", "The Death of Ivan the Terrible" and "Paul I", "Mandate" and "Trees Die Standing", "Much Ado About Nothing" and "Sevastopol March", many other plays - classical and modern. Chekhov, Dostoevsky and Ostrovsky, and Shakespeare, Lope de Vega, Moliere, Balzac, Brecht, Dreiser, Eduardo de Filippo did not leave the repertoire posters of the Big and Small stages.

The atmosphere of the theater of the Russian Army is permeated with history, the grandeur of the times and modern culture. On February 6, the theater celebrates its birthday. It was on this date in 1930 that a performance on the theme of events on the border with China was shown under the name "K.V.Zh.D."

The next 10 years of the theater's life were in constant travel, premieres were staged in military units in different parts of the country - from Leningrad to the Far East. And only in 1940 the theater got its own new building in Moscow.

In the auditorium, the ceiling is decorated with gorgeous frescoes painted by the outstanding avant-garde artist Lev Bruni. The building itself was created in the Stalinist Empire style. It consists of ten aboveground and ten underground floors. The spacious interiors are finished with natural stone and wood. The walls are decorated with picturesque panels and plafonds over the sideboards. Guests are always greeted by a grand marble staircase.

TSATRA includes the Great Hall for 1520 seats and the Small Hall for 400 seats. The largest stage in Europe has been built in the theater, which makes it possible to simulate battles with cavalry and tanks. The mechanics on the stage have been working perfectly since Soviet times. Huge rotating circles and lifting platforms transform the flat surface into a mountainous landscape.

The theater's modern repertoire includes classics and contemporaries such as Shakespeare, Andersen, Sarman, Ostrovsky, A. Tolstoy and many others. Each performance is distinguished by original decorations, brilliant acting and striking directorial work.

Beautiful, capacious, youthful

James Goldman's play "The Lion in Winter" at the Theater of the Russian Army (TSATRA) directed by the late Igor Burdonsky (by the way, he is Stalin's grandson) called "Elinor and Her Men" is full of grace, royal luxury and fiery performance.

Briefly about the plot, which is a bit difficult for me to comprehend: in the 12th century in an English castle on Christmas Eve, King Henry II of England communicates with his wife Elinor of Aquitaine, who has been imprisoned for 10 years for participating in a conspiracy. The dispute on stage is about who will be the heir to the throne.

In general, I got a positive impression and feeling of the general mood of the play and production due to the English temperament of this piece.

Despite the difficult perception of the relationship of the heroes, family feuds look in the same breath, do not strain and addictive, although I do not like plays about the English royal family and the royal court.

There is something New Year's in this drama, which from a distance resembles the Soviet film by director S. Samosonov "Purely English Murder" in his Christmas mood, but practically without a detective note.

It is worth noting the excellent performance of the Army Theater actors: the best that I have seen recently from theatrical classics.

Everything is played a little in the Soviet style, except for the scene of unconventional connection.

Lyudmila Chursina with diamond eyes is as good as in her youth, with a thin neck, slender and organic.

The handsome and cast of men, I especially liked the main character King Henry performed by the Honored Artist of Russia Sergey Kolesnikov - such an expression in the role, exaltation and humor.

The dynamics of the production of the performance a little reminded Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" (in the English TV movie), but there are a lot of quarrels and hatred, contrasts and expressiveness, after all, it's a tragedy.

Fairness among kings is unnatural. Tsar Peter was also unfair to his wife Sophia.

Elinor Aquitanas, in my opinion, is a defenseless and unhappy woman caught up in the feud of relatives.

As for the scenography, nice shades of brown screensaver behind the characters' backs and some costumes.

As for the theater, it has retained the sincerity of its joyful well-being and the liking of meeting with the audience, as it once did, when military personnel, military families with children, and the Moscow intelligentsia constantly went there.

Convenient location near the Dostoevskaya metro station in the center, a large building, friendly staff - this also creates the impression of a joyful theatrical event.

The amazing adventures of Masha and Viti

We visited this performance with my daughter for 10 years. To be honest, I was very afraid of putting the famous and beloved film about Masha and Vitya on stage one to one. Inevitably, one would have to compare and, most likely, not in favor of theatrical production. But I was afraid in vain, from the musical about the amazing adventures of Masha and Vitya, my daughter and I were completely delighted.

Very cool musical numbers! The costumes are incredibly beautiful, the dances are very interesting, in general, everything is at a high professional level. My daughter and I certainly remembered some songs from the film, some seemed new, but maybe we forgot it. In any case, we just enjoyed it. :)

I always mark for myself the actors and characters that I like the most. But here I am at a loss, because I liked everything, absolutely every character is charismatic and bright. Even Leshy, who did not catch me at all in the film, is simply incredible here. When he rolled onto the stage on a hoverboard, my daughter turned to me: “Mom, Leshy on a hoverboard! LESHY on the GYRO SCOOTER !!! " The child had a culture shock.)))

It is very good that the main characters - not only Masha and Vitya, played by adults, not children, but also the cat Matvey, Baba Yaga, Leshy, Kashchei - are completely different from the characters in the film. For some reason, the wild cat reminded me of Elvis Presley, especially when he picked up the guitar. :) Baba Yaga in a fluffy skirt was extraordinarily sweet, and her house on 4 chicken legs with angel wings ... well, how can a negative character live in such a wonderful house? :)

In general, you can talk a lot about this performance, but it's better to go and watch. My daughter and I received an extraordinary charge of fun and joy, so I recommend watching!

War of love is not a hindrance

There is probably no such person in the vastness of our country that who does not know the poem "Wait for me, and I will return", this painfully simple spell with endless repetitions ... it was he who, probably, was often whispered by those to whom for a long time the postman dropped in, and those who really wanted to survive and return, and so that the one, the only one, would certainly wait for him ... Konstantin Simonov had the only one, and her name was Valentina Serov ... They had a difficult affair, which began even before the war, Simonov long and stubbornly sought reciprocity, during the war they became husband and wife, then the war ended, they had a daughter, it would seem that now you can live and be happy, only love is over ... and they parted. .. In addition to his daughter, from this short union remained piercing poems, most of which are included in the collection "With you and without you", published in 1942.

And in our beloved TSATRA there is a performance of the same name, where Simonov's poems and his songs are sounded beautifully to the accompaniment of guitar, accordion and piano. In less than two hours, you will see everything from the birth of love to its inglorious end. Six actors and one actress, three musicians and only three rows of spectators. Because this time we are not in the hall, but on the stage. And everything happens at arm's length, and you can see everything, everything, everything ... The candles are burning ... The audience froze, afraid to move, so as not to accidentally disturb the action with an alien sound ... In the finale there is applause and congratulations on the Holiday!

The best drama theater in the capital!

And we are again at the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army.
And again we are watching "A Midsummer Night's Dream" based on the play ... well, we don't have to say who, everyone already knows (at least, I really hope so :)

This performance is magical. The curtain opens, and before us is a huge stage, on which all three layers of reality are placed: the forest inhabited by fairies, elves and gods, and Athens with Theseus, Hippolyta and other inhabitants of the city, and a play played by unlucky artisans in front of their ruler.

And the action begins, on the one hand, classically Shakespearean and medieval buffoonery, and on the other - very, very funny, despite full compliance with the text of the distant 16th century. This is not a reality, this is a dream in which different layers of reality are mixed and everything that is possible is ridiculed (and even that which is impossible). And in the medieval tradition, humor cannot be without contact with eroticism, and in this performance it looks either beautiful and organic (Oberon and Titania), then comical and vulgar (scenes with a donkey and Pyramus and Figba). Parents, attention, performance 16+. But still very, very cool :))

And the actors in it are wonderful, although the composition has changed somewhat since our first visit. But Roman Bogdanov remains irreplaceable in the role of the devil-Pek, the servant of Oberon, who arranges plot-forming confusion and pronounces the famous monologue that "The whole world is theater."

In children's fairy tales, there are good fairies, and in fairy tales for adults and fairies are harsh and strict. This is how we see Inna Serpokryl in a duet with Roman Bogdanov.

The composition of Athenian lovers seems to me to have changed. In my opinion, last time we had Timur Eremeev and Yuri Sazonov, and this time - Dmitry Lomakin and Mikhail Danilyuk, but they are also beautiful, even when you have to pacify obstinate lovers (Maria Belonenko, Anfisa Lomakina, if I'm not mistaken).

But, of course, the funniest thing is the parody story of the lovers Pyramus and Theisba (the author boldly scoffs at his own tragedy of Romeo and Juliet :))), played out in the finale of the play by Athenian artisans. The second time she, oddly enough, is no less funny than the first.
So, these same artisans wear costumes that are not at all antique, which only adds to the comic and some sense of phantasmagoric confusion of times.
But when they change clothes for the play, laughter begins in the hall, which does not stop until the end of the performance. It is difficult to retell, it must be seen :)))
I highly, highly recommend this performance - just a perfect rest at the end of the working week :)
By the way, the Theater of the Russian Army is also beautiful because it is not necessary to sit on the ground. This time we looked from the amphitheater - maybe some details are imperceptible, but the picture as a whole is very clearly visible, which is also great. And the very good climb in the amphitheater pleases me.
