Composition of the atmosphere

Absolutely everyone knows the Arabian tale about Aladdin, but "Stage" would not have been "Stage" if he had not tried to remove the dust and cobweb of times from it and turn it into a modern hit. In the new version, Aladdin lives in our days, horrified by injustice, pities the poor and dreams of saving the country enslaved by the Grand Vizier five centuries ago. With the help of a randomly found magic lamp, he succeeds - the merry Genie takes Aladdin into the past. In between exploits, our hero falls in love with the daughter of the Sultan, and she reciprocates. In the finale, justice triumphs, and the happy newlyweds go on a trip around the world - through centuries and countries on a magic carpet.
In an ordinary performance, this whole story would not fit into 5 hours of action - until the artist passes from one corner of the stage to another, until the scenery changes, etc. , etc. Therefore, not artists, but figure skaters reincarnated as heroes (among the participants of the show are masters of sports Alexei Rudometov, Max Lippe, Irina Potanina, Anton Shabalin, Ilya Gurylev). With their help, the fairy tale became like a Hollywood movie - with high speeds, drive, a spectacular picture, and an overwhelming degree of emotions.

The ice performance has fantastic set design: here you will find Istanbul Square with street vendors, magicians, snake charmers, acrobats, sword swallowers, fire blowers and camels, and the luxurious palace of the Sultan, and no less luxurious chambers of the vizier. All this in real scale and at arm's length. The show required 9 trailers of equipment, pyrotechnics (for the first time viewers will see a real fire show on ice), giant LED screens, 200 costumes from workshops Mariinsky Theater and author's atelier in Poland. And yet, producer Dmitry Bogachev decided that the show needed something else - something "atmospheric", certainly reminiscent of the homeland of the famous fairy tale (Aladdin performs his exploits in Istanbul, during the time of Suleiman the Great (it is his reign that the popular series today is dedicated to "Magnificent century").

This is how the production got a talisman - a lamp, which was found by artist Anton Makarsky (whose voice Aladdin speaks and sings) at the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. It took a whole day to find her, the merchant did not want to give "the biggest and most beautiful" in any way. And yet he gave up when he heard that in Moscow his lamp would take part in a grandiose show, and even a musical one.
By the way, about music. It was composed by the talented composer Yevgeny Zagot, the poems were written by Alexei Ivashchenko, a favorite of connoisseurs of Russian musicals. By the way, when Dmitry Bogachev asked to play a recording of the romantic duet Aladdin and the Princess in one of the traditional restaurants in Istanbul (the singer Jasmine sang along with Anton Makarsky), local visitors, convinced that this was their Turkish music, wanted to know the name of the author.

In Moscow, it is planned to show 46 performances (three per day). They are attended by 23 skaters and 14 technical staff. Not to mention the costumers and make-up artists. It turned out to be impossible to rent Luzhniki for the entire rehearsal period, and the show “moved” to a huge film studio with an area of ​​4.5 thousand square meters in Budapest (by the way, the film “Die Hard-5” was filmed there). Aleksei Frandetti supervised the complex process (the audience knows him very well from his acting work at the Pushkin Theatre, film roles and productions of musicals). In "Aladdin" he acted as a director. Considering how passionately Alexey loves Musical Theatre and the genre of the show, in principle, there is no doubt that he succeeded. When asked if there were any difficulties in working with skaters, the director replied: “with someone we instantly found mutual language, with others not immediately. But this is normal, an individual approach is important. It seems to me that today all the keys have been found and the safes have been opened, we are one team!”
The stellar line-up of directors also included Zinovy ​​Margolin, three-time winner of the highest theatrical prize Golden Mask, set designer, Tatyana Noginova, costume designer of the Mariinsky Theater, and Alexander Sivaev, lighting designer.
