Stencils for walls for painting large sizes. Stencil painting technique on the walls Painting with a stencil

Wall painting is a unique way to transform an existing interior or to breathe a touch of originality into a thoughtful design, to make it individual. Delicate sketches in pastel colors will make the room touching and cozy, and the catchy bright drawing will allow you to show creativity and refined taste.

For wall decor, materials and imagination are enough.

The special beauty of this decor method is that you can decorate the wallpaper with drawings at any time. you can plan in advance such a highlight of the interior or diversify an already finished room. Moreover, now this method of decorating walls is at the peak of popularity, and eminent designers are happy to use it.

Drawing on the wallpaper in the blink of an eye will transform even the most boring interior, and you can do it yourself, even without artistic skills.

Vinyl decals are easy to apply and remove from walls.

In addition, painting on wallpaper is an exciting leisure activity that can become a hobby.

But before you start choosing a drawing with enthusiasm, it is worth remembering a few simple rules.

  1. If the walls are plastered, use matte acrylic paint.
  2. On painted walls, it is best to paint with the same paint that was used for the base.
  3. You can paint on the wallpaper with any paints. But to make the drawing look brighter, especially if the base is dark, you should first prepare the "canvas" by painting it white.

Stencil painting

The easiest way to draw is to use ready-made stencils. They can be made independently or purchased ready-made. In addition to the most interesting stencil, you will need:

The technique of printing a picture.

  1. Paints in matching colors.
  2. Mixing containers.
  3. Aerosol adhesive for stencils.
  4. Brushes in several sizes.

Do not neglect the third and fourth recommendations. Special glue for stencils will allow you to firmly fix the base of the drawing, and after the end of the work, remove it without a trace. Brushes of different sizes are needed to make the drawing neat and beautiful. Work out small parts better with a small brush, and for painting over relatively large areas a large specimen is needed.

Cover the floor with plastic wrap or newspaper, this will protect the flooring if the development creativity on the wallpaper with your own hands will not be too neat. Place the stencil face down on the floor and spray with special glue. After that, without waiting for drying, glue the outline of the drawing to the wall.

Now you can start drawing. Avoid using too much paint on the brush, as it can drip and ruin the design. It is better to return to the container several times or pick up a glass of paint. First of all, paint large free areas, it is better to use a large brush for this. Then draw small details, bends and individual elements, picking up a miniature brush, respectively. It is better to remove the stencil after the paints have completely dried.

If the pattern on the wallpaper should have the appearance of a repeating ornament, when gluing the stencil later, make sure that the small details match perfectly. Even a slight discrepancy will be noticeable from a distance, and efforts will be in vain.

Release the inner artist

If you feel that you can do without a stencil, then you can create your own unique drawing that no designer will repeat. But you should not blindly rely on your talent and imagination, it is better to prepare in advance for the creation of a masterpiece than to later regret the impulse.

Coloring wallpaper can be colored with paints, pencils or felt-tip pens.

You will need:

  1. Paints.
  2. Different size brushes and a sponge.
  3. Containers for mixing paints.
  4. A simple pencil.

After preparing the walls, you should definitely take care of creating a sketch. It is the pencil sketch that will subsequently create the perfect drawing.

It is better to apply a sketch with dotted or light strokes. At the same time, do not be lazy to move back a sufficient distance more often and evaluate the sketches. In addition to your own imagination, you can use your favorite drawings and pictures and even your own photo. Any image must be transferred to tracing paper, enlarging it if necessary. In addition to tracing paper, you can use a special projector for sketching, but this method is more suitable for silhouette drawings.

Do not try to quickly draw a suitable outline, haste can do a bad job. Don't be lazy to re-evaluate your sketch and correct any bugs. Only after you have got the perfect sketch, you can proceed to the next stage.

Painting a wall is laborious and requires extreme concentration, since it is quite difficult to correct mistakes. Start working with a wide brush, paint over all large elements without touching the edges, not reaching them by 1-2 cm. Make sure that the brush is always clean, otherwise the transfer of colors will ruin everything. After the main part of the wallpaper is ready, take a small brush and carefully draw out the borders, small details and let the masterpiece dry.

It turns out that the holes decorate not only cheese and human ears. They can be used for creative purposes as well. For example, members of the French community of artists and designers Murmure create real paintings using holes.

The "hole" creativity of the guys from Murmure has a lot in common with the people who are engaged in stencil painting. They also use sheets of paper that are punched in such a way that certain images are produced.

Only after that, they do not need to take cans with car paint, look for free walls and paint on them using a stencil. Murmure believes that the stencil itself is already an art. Moreover, it is much more reliable and durable than the drawings on the walls.

It turns out that Murmure is doing stencil painting the other way around. After all, the main thing in their work is the stencils themselves. And, in order to see images on them, you need to attach the form to some background other than it. Then you can see pictures painted with holes.

Moreover, in order to create such pictures, you must have a very delicate artistic talent and taste. After all, here, making holes in the paper, you need to very clearly understand what exactly you are doing and what result you expect.

Well, in order to view these unusual paintings made by holes, you also need to have a very broad view of art, as well as be able to see, pay attention to the whole, and not to the details.

For example, a vegetable ornament, echoing the pattern of curtains, furniture upholstery or wallpaper, using stencils you can apply to picture frames and mirrors. Previously unattractive surfaces will become expressive.

So, stencil painting is one of the simplest but original ways decorate any item that requires only a little patience and accuracy.

Tools and materials

Scotch tapes of different widths, double-sided scotch tape.

Paints: acrylic, gouache.

Natural and synthetic sponges in various sizes.

Stencil material: cardboard, film, whatman paper.

Pencils, eraser, drawing paper - for drawing the main image.

Ruler and centimeter for precise stencil placement.

Old newspapers to protect surfaces during work.

Clerical knife and scissors with sharp ends.

Cotton wool and alcohol to clean the stencil at the end of the work

Stencil making.

Drawing translation:

The drawing is transferred to the material selected for the stencil using a backlit table. Use wrapping paper to transfer large compositions to the wall.

Cutting:

You need to cut the stencil on a hard and durable surface using a sharp knife with replaceable blades, starting from the central part or from the smallest elements of the pattern. Use a template when cutting curved lines. Instead of a knife, you can take nail scissors. When cutting, the scissors remain motionless, but the stencil blank rotates during operation. Try to cut using the middle of the scissor blades - then the cutting line will be even.

Sponge paint

This method not only allows you to apply paint faster, but is also great for painting large areas. It is better to use natural sponges, as they create the effect of transparency and lightness of the pattern, but you can also use a synthetic sponge by cutting it into pieces with uneven edges.

Cleaning the stencil

Stencils must be stored carefully, since their creation is, although not difficult, but rather time-consuming work. The marks from the felt-tip pen can be washed off with a cotton swab soaked in alcohol. In addition, the stencil should be rinsed with water before applying a new color or when you want to flip it over to create a symmetrical image. It is recommended to store stencils in rigid folders or boxes, lining them with sheets of thin cardboard. At the end of the work, wash the brushes thoroughly with warm water, adding a few drops of detergent to it, and let them dry; store the brushes hair up. Never leave the brush uncleaned: dried paint can render it unusable.

Stencil painting in the interior

Stencil painting is a kind of creativity available to everyone. Moreover, it will give you a lot of pleasure. The main thing in work is to stock up on only a little patience, to work with soul and carefully. Try to do the work yourself, you just need to follow a few simple rules. The first drawing should be simple in one plane. If you have artistic ability, then you can come up with it yourself. Good luck to you!

When my son, as a gift, suddenly decided to buy a panel, I was outraged. Spending money on an interior thing when there are a lot of tools and materials in the house so that you can do it yourself - well, the top of waste! On mine: "Is it weak to draw yourself?", The son sadly stated that "not being able is impossible." To which I exhaled almost offended, "Well, really! ..", and went to draw a panel ... not being able to draw.

Stencil drawing materials:

How can you use stencils for panel decor

1. I spread paints (White, Blackberry, Magenta) and black primer on MDF-canvas.

Using a spatula, I stretch the paint over the canvas. After that I take a plastic card (you can take a rubber spatula) and distribute the paint more tightly.

After drying, I add more black soil and Magenta in the same way.

2. With white paint, diluted with water to the consistency of liquid sour cream, I make a chaotic splash of blots, immediately sprinkle these blots with water and then, using a jet of a hair dryer, I slightly disperse the paint.

3. I got three rather large blots, on which I will apply a bunch of circles using a stencil and black paint (you can take any background geometric stencil). This will break the blots even more.

4. I take the "Flowers" stencil and, using a stencil brush, rubbing (the brush is semi-dry, the drawing is translucent) I paint flowers with Yellow Ocher and Magenta paints, somewhere clean, somewhere mixing them together, somewhere adding a drop to Magenta Black, and a drop of White to Ocher. Don't forget about the boards.

5. I mix relief pastes Sapphire and Mahogany and a drop of acrylic primer (the primer is taken here as a substitute for relief paste Graphite, unfortunately, I ran out of it, and without black it turned out not as dark as I wanted).

I apply a floral ornament through a stencil.

6. After the embossed flower has dried, I tint it with a stencil brush through a stencil with Violet mother-of-pearl Decolor paint.

I darken the centers of the ornament "Decolor" Black and brighten the edges of the ornament with the paint "Chameleon" Golden.

7. In another corner of the panel, I want to place a bird. To do this, I use Decolor Olympic Silk and Royal Purple paints, Crystal Paste and, to obtain sufficient density (too much paint as a color for the crystal paste), some Transparent Modeling Gel.

I mix these materials with each other and apply the resulting mixture through a stencil using a palette knife. At first, this relief will look like porridge, but as it dries, the mixture of paints and modeling gel will settle slightly, releasing balls of crystal paste on the surface.

8. The panel in the style of stencil painting is ready! I am almost an artist ... despite the fact that I do not know how to draw at all)))
