The history of creation and the fate of the picture

Grigoriev said that his “searchings in the field of genre painting remained empirical for a long time”, that at first he “painted everything from life and pulled a lot of superfluous things into the picture”, but then he “moved on to the director’s decision”. Researchers of the artist's work wrote that for the first time Grigoriev really succeeded in such a decision (to unite all the characters in a single action, subordinate to the intention of the artist-director) in the film "The Goalkeeper". It is so thought out, “directed” that it is perceived as a sketch of what was directly seen in life. In fact, this showed the mature skill of the genre painter, each detail of the canvas has its own symbolic meaning, each character is convincing in its own way. However, despite the merits noted by critics, in Soviet times this picture was in the shadow of two other paintings by the artist - "Admission to the Komsomol" (the same 1949) and "Discussion of the deuce" (1950).

The painting "Goalkeeper" was created in 1949. At this time, Grigoriev was already a professor, head of the drawing department. The artist’s appeal to the children’s theme was not accidental or the first (for the first time he drew attention to his work with the painting “Children on the Beach” in 1937). Grigoriev appreciated immediacy in children's images, their naturalness, liveliness of reactions. Painting technique - oil painting on canvas. Size - 100 by 172 centimeters. The painting (together with another painting by Grigoriev "Admission to the Komsomol", 1949) was awarded the Stalin Prize II degree for 1950. At the same time, the canvas was purchased by the State Tretyakov Gallery th, in the collection of which is currently .

The plot and features of its interpretation

The boy's right knee is bandaged - a sign of devotion to his team, willingness to sacrifice his health for her. According to O’Mahoney, Grigoriev relied on the metaphor of “goalkeeper-border guard”, a valiant defender of the borders of the Motherland from insidious and cruel enemies, characteristic of the culture and ideology of the pre-war years. However, the picture was painted in 1949 and the metaphor acquires a number of additional meanings. A wasteland is depicted on the outskirts of a city or village (simultaneously outside the city and in close proximity to it, such a “defense line”, according to a British art historian, is a reference to both capitals, Moscow and Leningrad, at the very approaches to which there was a front line during the war ). The background of the picture tells about the restoration of the country - scaffolding is visible on two buildings; near, on the right, there is a site where excavation work is being carried out, spectators are sitting on boards, which also serves as a hint that the match is taking place on a construction site.

The audience, with one exception, are children. They look, like the goalkeeper, behind the picture frame, at the opponent preparing to strike. Some children spectators of the match are wearing sportswear; one boy stands behind the goalkeeper and seems to be assisting him. "Gate" - school bags laid on the ground on either side of the goalkeeper. According to O'Mahoney, this indicates the improvised rather than planned nature of the event itself. Among the children, Sergei Grigoriev portrayed two girls. O'Mahoney believes that they occupy a subordinate position in the picture. One of the girls (she is wearing sweatpants, the same as the boys) is babysitting a doll, which speaks of her more as a mother-to-be than as an athlete; the second, dressed in a school uniform, stands behind the backs of other children.

There is only one adult among the children. The pose in which this person is depicted by the artist immediately attracts the attention of the viewer: he sits with his left leg forward in the direction of an invisible enemy, with his hand on his knee. This gesture repeats the position of the goalkeeper's hands, in turn it is duplicated by a small boy who sits to the left of the man. Judging by the clothes, the man is not a coach; in his right hand, a folder and documents indicate that this is a responsible employee of a certain public institution. On the lapel of his jacket there are order strips and ribbons showing that he is a participant in the last war. In the film, he plays, according to O'Mahoney, the role of a mentor, passing on the experience of his generation to children.

Football for a long time remains one of the most favorite games not only for boys, but also for adults. For them, there is nothing more exciting than kicking the ball into the goal after passing through an endless number of obstacles. This game is dedicated to many films and songs. Do not forget about her and the artists. Interesting is the picture "Goalkeeper". Grigoriev Sergey Alekseevich - the artist who created it in 1949, managed to accurately convey on the canvas all the excitement and emotions inherent in this sports game. Today the canvas is stored in the Tretyakov Gallery, anyone can see it.

Artist biography

A well-known Soviet painter who depicted in his works the life of the younger generation of the post-war era. He was born in 1910 in Lugansk. In 1932 he graduated from the Kiev Art Institute, after which he studied at it. teaching activities. In his paintings, the artist raised the problems of the moral education of Soviet youth.

In addition to "Goalkeeper" he wrote such works as "Returned", "Discussion of the deuce", "At the meeting" and others. For his work, the painter was twice awarded the Stalin Prize, as well as several medals and orders. Despite the fact that the artist lived in the Soviet era, his work has not lost its relevance to this day. In the 7th grade, students are offered to write Grigoriev's "Goalkeeper".

Acquaintance with the creation of the artist

Teaching children to be creative is one of the priority tasks of modern educational system. Teachers offer children to write a description of the painting "Goalkeeper" by Grigoriev in order to bring them closer to art, to develop their ability to logically formulate their thoughts, to teach them to express their own opinion about what they saw on the canvas. In order to successfully write an essay on the proposed topic, students first need to carefully analyze the scene depicted in the picture.

Starting with S. Grigoriev's "Goalkeeper", it is necessary to remember in what era it was created. 1949 is a difficult time for the Soviet people. After the completion of the Great Patriotic War only 4 years have passed, and the country was rapidly recovering. New businesses and homes sprang up. The overwhelming majority of citizens lived in poverty, but the peaceful sky above their heads gave them hope for a brighter future. Post-war children, remembering all the horrors of deprivation and bombing, grew up unspoiled and knew how to enjoy ordinary things. For example, playing football. It is this episode that the artist conveys in his work.

S. Grigoriev "Goalkeeper": an essay based on a painting. Where to begin?

The action described on the canvas takes place in an abandoned wasteland. Children came here after school to play football. The protagonist of the plot is an ordinary boy standing on an improvised gate, the border of which is marked with student portfolios. Instead of benches in a wasteland, there are logs where the fans are located: seven children and an adult man in a suit and hat. Another boy is watching the game, standing outside the gate. That's all, whom the picture "Goalkeeper" represents. Grigoriev also portrayed a white dog. She curled up at the feet of the smallest cheerleader and sleeps peacefully, showing no interest in what is happening around.

When making an essay-description of the painting by S. Grigoriev "Goalkeeper", you need to pay attention not only to the appearance of the football field, but also to the landscapes that are visible behind it. In the background, temples are clearly visible and from which it can be concluded that the action takes place in a big city. The football match took place in autumn, as bushes with yellowed leaves surround the wasteland. Judging by what the smallest fans were wearing, the weather outside was cool, but it had not yet had time to get completely cold.

Meet the Goalie Boy

An essay based on Grigoriev's painting "The Goalkeeper" must necessarily contain a detailed description of the main character. The boy standing at the gate appears to be no more than 12 years old. He is dressed in a blue jacket, from the neck of which one can see a snow-white collar of a school shirt, shorts and shoes. The young goalkeeper has gloves on his hands. His knee is bandaged, but the injury did not stop him from continuing a tense and exciting game. The goalkeeper is slightly bent, and all his attention is riveted to the field, which remained outside the picture. The viewer does not see the rest of the players, and only by the tense face of the goalkeeper can he guess that a serious game is underway and the ball is about to be in the goal. The fate of the match is in the hands of the boy, and he, realizing all the responsibility, tries to avoid a goal at any cost.

Other heroes of the canvas

When compiling a description of the painting "Goalkeeper" by Grigoriev, students need to pay attention to the tension that is present among the fans, where there are both boys and girls. None of the kids can take their eyes off the field. The ball is already very close to the gate, and the intensity of passions has reached the top. The children sitting on the logs would love to join the game, but they are still too small, and the older guys do not take them as football players. But supporting the team is also a very responsible task, and the kids gave themselves completely to it. The most desperate of the boys could not resist and ran out the gate. Realizing that the outcome of the game does not depend on him at all, he still cannot sit still.

Against the background of the kids, an adult man stands out, who also came to cheer for the guys. Description of the painting by S. Grigoriev "Goalkeeper" would not be complete without mentioning this colorful character. It is not known who the depicted man is. Perhaps he is the father of one of the children, or perhaps he simply could not get past the exciting action. What is striking is the passion with which an adult and serious man follows the children's game, how much he worries about its outcome. No less than the kids, this person would like to be on the football field now and pick up the ball from the enemy.

Features of the work

The total passion for football is conveyed by the painting "Goalkeeper". Grigoriev was able to focus the attention of the audience on the emotional side of the game, to show how it captures everyone present in the wasteland. Despite its considerable age, the picture is still very relevant today, because millions of people all over the planet are fond of football. It will be interesting for modern secondary school students to describe the plot of the picture, since this sport is familiar to them from an early age.

Grigoriev's painting "The Goalkeeper" is written in rather restrained shades. Its color scheme conveys the mood of the post-war era. Cold gray tones testify to the hard life that befell the people, who with their own hands were forced to raise the country from ruins. And only bright red elements, which stand out especially clearly against a gloomy background, give the canvas optimism and confidence in a happy and cloudless future.

To make it easy for secondary school students to complete the task of the teacher on the topic "Artist Sergei Grigoriev. "Goalkeeper": an essay on the picture", they need to draw up a short plan before creating the text. In the work, you need to make an introduction, then briefly talk about the biography of the painter, and after that go on to describe the plot of the work. Any essay should end with conclusions in which the child talks about what impression he had after a detailed study of the picture. He needs to substantiate his conclusions.

The subtext of the plot of the picture

Why did the artist depict football on his canvas? As you know, collectivism was popularized in the Soviet Union. Football - where each of the participants is part of one system and cannot fully function without it. In the same way, Soviet people were not able to live outside the collective. We can say that the Soviet era is the best way to convey the picture "Goalkeeper". Grigoriev, capturing the team game on the canvas, conveyed the atmosphere that prevailed in society at that time.

As a child, I was fond of football. I failed to become a real football player. But the passion remains. But it is not always possible to get to a football match. And sometimes you just want to cheer for your favorite team. And not so long ago, I found out that guys from neighboring houses are gathering in a wasteland nearby and are arranging real football battles on an impromptu field.

So I decided one day to go see how homegrown football players play. All some kind of entertainment, and a favorite game all the same. The wasteland was big. True, he also looked a little like a football field. But good for the game. The boys played right after school. The border of the gate was marked with their own satchels. I and a few other fans settled on wooden billboards. Girls, classmates of one of the players, came to cheer for their friends. There were younger guys too. We all sat side by side. Some of the guys came from home: football was so interesting to them.

The game started rather sluggishly. But gradually the players got used to it. And soon the match captured me so much that I forgot that ordinary boys were playing. I got up, then again fell to the makeshift podium. He shouted something, gave advice. The game was coming to an end. Our team won. But the opponents did not give up. They tried their best to even the score. But the goalkeeper of our team was always on the alert.

My neighbor Petya was standing at the gate. I didn't even recognize him right away. Meeting Petya on the stairs or in the courtyard of the house, I thought about how untidy he was. Eternally disheveled with a tattered briefcase, he gave the impression of an absent-minded, uncollected person. But now he has changed beyond recognition. Where did his distraction and carelessness go? Petya was dressed simply: a black T-shirt and shorts. On the feet are ordinary shoes. He was completely focused on the game, closely followed what was being done on the field, and caught the ball flying into the goal in time.

The decisive moment of the game has arrived. All our attention was directed to the middle of the field, where a serious struggle for the ball unfolded. Opponents did their best to take him away from our defenders. They didn't succeed. But they did not give up and went on the attack again and again. Petya, bending his knees, resting his gloved hands on them, waited, ready at any moment to repel the blow. But he didn't have to. The high school student, who was the referee at the match, announced that the time was up. The game was over. Frustrated rivals reluctantly wandered home. And we rejoiced at our victory. I congratulated Petya on a great game, and together we went to the house, discussing the best moments. Since then, I have often been in the wasteland, rooting for the team of our yard.

Painting by S. A. Grigoriev "Goalkeeper".
S. A. Grigoriev is a famous Ukrainian artist, the author of many paintings, the characters of which are children. One of the best works of the painter is the painting "Goalkeeper", painted in 1949.
The action takes place in the schoolyard on one of the warm days of early autumn. In the distance one can see houses, construction sites and a wasteland, hiding in a lilac-bluish haze. The borders of the gate are the bags and caps of the guys.
The protagonist of the picture is a lanky fair-haired boy. He alone looks like a real athlete, he is wearing blue shorts, a sweater, black leather gloves, lowered socks. The boy's knee is bandaged, which shows that this is not the first time he has played. The goalkeeper stands in a tense pose: legs wide apart, leaning his hands on his knees, he follows the actions of the opponent. Behind the goalkeeper is located, his stomach stuck out, his hands behind his back, in a red ski suit, his assistant, ready to catch the ball at any moment.
Spectators were seated on inaccurately folded boards. All of them are of different ages. The game is watched by a man passing by and carried away by the cries of children. The boy in the dark suit and the girl in the red hood are the most "sick" of all. The rest of the guys are more relaxed. All fans are looking in the same direction. From this we can conclude that now they will hit the penalty spot. A small white dog, curled up at the feet of the children, is also watching the game.
The artist managed to unite quite a lot of characters with a single action. Each detail has its place, each character is revealed objectively in his own way. The color of the picture is varied. It has both pale, flesh tones and bright colors.
I, like many boys, like to watch someone play football. Being a fan is a very exciting experience.
I liked the picture, because the artist managed to convey the intensity of football passions.

Description of the painting by S. Grigoriev "Goalkeeper"
Composition plan.
Sergei Alekseevich Grigoriev and his painting "Goalkeeper"
The plot and composition of the picture
The image of the goalkeeper

Sergei Alekseevich Grigoriev was born in 1910.
The theme of youth, physical and spiritual health of a person plays an important role in the artist's work. Especially frequent in Grigoriev's children's and school theme. dedicated to children best work artist. The painting "Goalkeeper" brought Grigoriev well-deserved fame. For some works, including the "Goalkeeper", Grigoriev received the State Prize. It is this picture that will be discussed in this paper.
This picture is very dynamic. The plot is the following. Autumn reigns on the canvas, as evidenced by the dark cloudy sky, yellowing and falling leaves. The guys were returning from school and went to the wasteland to play football. The wasteland is located relatively close to the city, some buildings are visible on the horizon, even the domes of the church are visible. The guys built a gate out of briefcases and school bags, just throwing them on the ground, and an exciting game ensued. The fact that the game is gambling is evidenced by the undisguised interest of the fans. Spectators sit on a stack of boards.
central character pictures is a boy goalkeeper. The goalkeeper is standing, bent over, his posture is tense, he is watching the game with concentration. By his posture, it can be assumed that the ball is still far from the goal. But at any moment the boy is ready to enter the game and defend his goal. The hero wants to be like a real goalkeeper. He has the pose of a professional football player, gloves on his hands. A knee wrapped in a bandage indicates that this is not the first time a goalkeeper has stood on the football field, and he always defended the goal, even at the cost of his own knees. There is a feeling that the boy often watched the game of football and seeks to imitate the players even in clothes. On the boy's feet are lowered stockings and galoshes tied with braid. It can be seen that the goalkeeper is a brave, fearless boy, passionate about his work.
Standing behind the goalkeeper with his hands behind his back is a little boy in a red suit. It seems that he also considers himself almost a professional football player, with the air of a connoisseur, the child follows the game. But he has not yet been accepted into the team.
The eyes of all fans are directed to the right, where there is a tense struggle for the ball. The rest of the players with the ball are not depicted on the canvas, but the intense attention of the audience indicates a hot fight. The man in the hat and jacket seems to be completely captured by the spectacle of the game and seems to want to take part in it himself. In his pose, the artist managed to portray tension and readiness for impetuous movements. The man sits with his legs slightly apart, hands resting on his knees and leaning forward and sideways to where the players are fighting for the ball. The young man is probably a good football player himself. Or perhaps he remembered his own childhood and the same races with a ball in a wasteland.
The boy in the ski suit and red tie is just as passionate about the game. He looks with his head stretched forward and his mouth open. A boy with a baby in his arms and a girl in school uniform, with a red bow in her hair are also closely watching the game. Other girls sitting on the boards - with a doll, in a hood, in a red hat - are more relaxed about the game, but nevertheless they are watching it carefully. The most calm, even indifferent to the game, characters in the picture are a baby in a downy scarf and a white shaggy dog with a black ear. The child calmly leaned against his brother, and the dog curled up in a ball and doze.
The painting is called "Goalkeeper", and this name reflects the essence of the artist's idea. Grigoriev sought to depict a boy standing guard over the gate.
Despite the fact that the audience does not see the actual football match, it can be understood that Grigoriev displayed one of the most critical moments of the game. This is felt in the goalkeeper's pose - tense, full of expectation, and in the obvious interest of the audience.
To reveal the idea, Grigoriev uses such means of painting as lighting, color, composition. The construction of the picture is quite simple and reflects the author's intention as much as possible. As we have already said, the goalkeeper is central, main character canvases. The goalkeeper is shown in the foreground, separate from the other players on the team. In the background, you can see children and a young man. In the background of the picture, the city, high-rise buildings, residential buildings are guessed. Details play an important role in the perception of the picture. Attention is drawn to the gate built from briefcases and bags, the goalkeeper's bandaged knee.
The picture is solved in warm color scheme. The artist uses shades of yellow, light brown, red. The earth in the picture is light brown, trampled down, devoid of vegetation, and the viewer understands that this is not the first time a football game has been held on this wasteland. On the bushes and the field you can see golden leaves, reddish-yellow boards play the role of benches for fans. The red tones are reflected in the little boy's costume, bow and cap of the girls. Such colors help the artist convey the intensity of the action, the match.
Grigoriev's painting conveys a feeling of airiness, transparency of the autumn air. The landscape in this work plays the role of a background, it is unobtrusive and executed in rather muted colors: like a foggy city in the background, dark and warm tones of the earth, light soft shrubs. Everything in the picture is subordinated to the main idea of the artist and a subtle psychologist: to most accurately portray the young goalkeeper, who is completely passionate about the game and responsibly relating to his role. Grigoriev's painting is a story about children playing football.

The painting "Goalkeeper" Grigoriev was painted back in 1949. But it is interesting to look at it even now, because it is dedicated to the never outdated game - football.

The picture shows the match and the spectators watching it. The picture attracts attention with its ease. It seems that the guys just ran from school to the wasteland, made gates out of briefcases and started the game. A curious feature of the picture is that it does not show field players. We see only one of them, the goalkeeper. It is with his description, as I think, that one should begin the description of the painting “The Goalkeeper” by Grigoriev.

This is a boy of twelve or thirteen. He stands, half-bent, waiting for the ball. His face expresses seriousness, he is very passionate about the game. It can be seen that the boy is an experienced goalkeeper. He has a confident posture and strong, sinewy legs. Even with his clothes, he wants to look like real football players. He is wearing shorts (and judging by the clothes of the audience, it is already a cool autumn in the yard), and he has gloves on his hands. They help the goalkeeper in the game. He has a bandage on his leg - he must have been unlucky in one of the previous matches.

What happens on the field is not visible to the viewer, and because of this, the picture seems even more interesting to me personally. One can only guess where the ball is now, when it will fly into the goal and whether the goalkeeper will be lucky. But, judging by the faces watching the match, the game is in full swing. And if you look closely at the focused face of the goalkeeper, you can confidently say that he will not miss the ball!

The drawn spectators in the picture play no less a role than the figure of the protagonist. There are enough of them. Basically, these are the same as the goalkeeper boy, schoolchildren. But in the very corner of the picture you can see the figure of an adult in a suit, wearing a hat and with a folder on his knees. It seems that he was going somewhere on business, but stopped, carried away by the battle. I really like his posture and face, because it is clear that he is really interested in the game and does not consider it childish nonsense. If he could, he would run to the field himself.

No less captured by the events and a little boy in a red tracksuit. He was obviously not taken into the game due to the fact that he is still small, but he desperately wants to be among the players. So he froze behind the goalkeeper, slightly leaning back, so that his whole figure protests. I think he is offended by the schoolchildren, but he cannot leave - everything that happens is too interesting.

And among the audience depicted girls. One of them, with a bright red bow, is carefully watching the game. It can be seen that she has a fighting character and that she could also play. The second, a very small spectator, sits on her brother's lap. It is not known if she understands anything, but she looks very carefully.
