Conspiracies of haruhi suzumiya. Theories and conjectures around the world of "Melancholia" Trivia and additions

Haruhi Suzumiya

Haruhi Suzumiya- high school student. Haruhi only cares about unusual people like psychics, aliens, people with superpowers. Ordinary schoolchildren are an empty place for her, so Haruhi not only has no friends, but also friends. The girl allows the guys to take care of herself, but the longest relationship with the opposite sex lasted only a week. Haruhi, apparently, is looking for something unusual in the guys, and when he does not find it, he immediately breaks off the relationship without regret.

Suzumiya establishes the SOS club at the school, in which four students are enrolled almost by force. The girl is waiting for the club to help her find any secrets, riddles, recognize people from another world or from other planets. When nothing out of the ordinary happens for a long time, Haruhi falls into real melancholy. Until a new crazy idea, of course, in which she forces all members of the club to participate.

The girl’s closest communication was with Kyon, an unremarkable classmate who tolerates her antics only because he indifferently lets things take their course. Haruhi has not only friendly feelings for Kyon, but also something similar to romantic sympathies.

The true nature of Haruhi Suzumiya is not known even to herself. According to research by a group of psychics, Haruhi is the creator of the existing world. Reality depends on the mood of the schoolgirl. When she is bored, sad, or when she experiences negative emotions, a closed space is created in the world, inside which Haruhi's emotions are embodied in the form of a giant. The giant crushes the world inside space. The stronger and longer the girl's sadness, the more the zone of isolation grows, which threatens to violate the existing world. With her single wish, Haruhi is able to destroy the reality she created and replace it with a new one. Therefore, it is important to keep her in a positive mood and prevent her melancholy.

Kyon

Kyon- student high school A classmate of Haruhi Suzumiya. Kyon is a nickname that the guy received from friends. However, over time, all classmates and even relatives begin to call him that.

Kyon is literally chosen by Suzumiya to be her friend and partner in all her crazy undertakings. By nature, Kyon is a phlegmatic person. He is a kind of contemplative, analyzing what is happening, but not wanting to participate in it. It is easier for Kyon to comply with Haruhi's requests, even if they are devoid of logic and meaning, than to argue with her. Kyon's life flows measuredly and slowly. He doesn't oppose the system like Haruhi, but goes with the flow, while at the same time doing what is required of him: attending school, studying satisfactorily, being in school clubs, looking after his sister.

Kyon is on friendly terms with two classmates, Taniguchi and Kunikida. He is at the age when guys are beginning to be interested in the opposite sex. Therefore, Kyon interacts with all the girls of the club not without pleasure, giving preference to one of them in different situations. However, he does not take any steps to get closer to the girls.

Of all the members of the SOS team, Kyon is the only person without superpowers.

Mikuru Asahina

Mikuru Asahina

Mikuru Asahina- Second grade high school student. Mikuru is a year older than all the members of the club, however, her puppet appearance and shyness make her the most timid and driven. Asahina is very beautiful, and her modesty and suppleness make her even more attractive in the eyes of men.

Mikuru gets into the club because Haruhi decided that the team should have a beautiful girl with big breasts. Unable to argue with the brisk head of the club, Mikuru endures all her abuse of herself. In particular, Haruhi forces the girl to attend the club room only in sexy maid and nurse outfits. In order to attract people to the circle, Mikuru was forced to hand out flyers in a skimpy bunny costume. Haruhi shamelessly undresses Mikuru, checks the size of her breasts, takes pictures for posting on the website.

In reality, Mikuru Asahina is a guest from the future. She came to the past to watch over Haruhi Suzumiya in order to prevent the catastrophe that she would cause in years to come with her bad mood.

Yuki Nogato

Yuki Nogato

Yuki Nogato- high school student. Yuki got into the "SOS" team "loaded" to the club room. Previously, this room was a literary circle. Due to the release of her other members, Yuki was left alone in the now defunct club. She just came into the room and quietly read in the corner when Haruhi decided to take over the room. Thus, Yuki became a member of the erratic Suzumiya's team.

Yuki only takes part in the activities of the club when Haruhi encourages her to do so. The rest of the time she does not take the initiative and does not enter into any contact with the members of the club. Yuuki answers questions in monosyllables, nullifying any attempt to initiate communication with her.

Nogato's favorite pastime is reading. It is very difficult to imagine her without a book in her hands. In the future, Yuki also discovers his passion for computer programming. This happens when she hacks the game during a competition with members of the computer club. Yuki seems indifferent to everything. However, when Kyon notices that she is prettier without glasses, she no longer wears them.

In simple words, Yuki is an alien. She is a humanoid interface to a certain consciousness, created to monitor Haruhi Suzumiya. Yuki saves Kyon from being attacked by another humanoid interface.

Itsuki Koizumi

Itsuki Koizumi

Itsuki Koizumi- high school student. The only one of all the members joins the club of his own free will. Itsuki is always in a good mood. Most often, a simple smile wanders on his face, but Kyon, who analyzes everything that happens, Itsuki from the very beginning seems to be the one who hides more than one skeleton in the closet.

The real reason for Itsuki joining the circle is to keep an eye on Haruhi Suzumiya's mood. Itsuki is a psychic, and his psychic abilities are extremely specific. Under normal circumstances, the guy is the same a common person, like others. However, when Haruhi's enclosed space emerges, he, along with his fellow psychics, comes to grips with a monster that destroys everything inside the space.

Itsuki is most concerned about the changes in Suzumiya's state of mind. Therefore, he often invents common leisure activities for the members of the club, thus putting Haruhi in circumstances in which she can simulate unusual occurrences.

Other students

Ryoko Asakura

Ryoko Asakura

Ryoko Asakura- Haruhi and Kyon's classmate, class president. In addition to the fact that Ryoko always has time in all subjects, she is a head girl, an activist and an excellent student, she is also a beauty that many schoolchildren dream of.

Ryoko had a lot of interest in Suzumiya and would often ask her only friend, Kyon, about her. As it turned out later, this was necessary for her, since Ryoko is the same humanoid interface as Yuki. However, unlike Nogato, Asakura didn't want to hold back Haruhi's emotions, but rather stimulated them to see what Haruhi was capable of. Attacks Kyon, but is killed by Yuki.

Taniguchi

Taniguchi

Taniguchi is Kyon's classmate and close friend. Taniguchi is most concerned about the opposite sex. He has his own scale of attractiveness, according to which he evaluates the girls of his class. He studied with Haruhi in high school, so he immediately warns Kyon not to mess with the girl. Taniguchi was one of her boyfriends, and their relationship did not last even a day, which remained in him an unpleasant memory. The student took part in the baseball tournament with the SOS team, and also starred in the film Haruhi as a zombie.

Kunikida

Kunikida

Kunikida is Kyon's classmate and close friend. Kunikida looks younger than his years, like many guys his age who can't keep up with girls in physical development. Kunikida is more modest than his friend Taniguchi, but he is equally involved with his friend in watching the girls of the school. Kunikida participated in the filming of the film Haruhi and in the baseball game.

Tsuruya

Tsuruya is a high school student who is a friend of Mikuru Asahina. Tsuruya, along with Taniguchi and Kunikida, plays zombies in Suzumiya's film and also participates in a baseball match. The girl can't take any of Haruhi's ideas seriously. During filming, she now and then rolls with laughter. She is amused by the seriousness of the situation, the costumes, the plot of the film, the acting. During the school festival, she changes into a maid costume, which also makes her extremely happy. This is a lively girl without complexes. Despite being sarcastic towards Haruhi's ideas, Tsuruya enjoys participating in them.

Head of the computer club

Head of the computer club

Head of the computer club- a schoolboy whose name is not called in the series. The head of the club suffers losses because of Haruhi. By deceit and blackmail, Suzumiya knocks out the most modern computer from him. In order to take revenge on the offender and return the property, the student conceives competitions in computer game developed by his club. During the game, the SOS team realizes that they have been cheated and the computer club has an advantage. Yuki hacks the game, the SOS team wins, and the poor guy from the computer club is forced to give Haruhi 4 more computers into his possession.

Kyon's sister

Kyon's sister

Kyon's sister- no one says the name of the girl in the series. Everyone calls her "baby" or "baby". Kyung's younger sister is an ordinary girl, a student lower grades. She loves Kyon and his friends, so she tries to spend time with them more often. In the absence of the required number of participants for the baseball team, Kyon allows his sister to play with the SOS team. Also, the baby followed her brother and went on vacation to a secluded villa located on the island. Her fragile physique helped her fit into a suitcase, from where Kyon rescued her in the hallway of the house, but he was forced to take his sister with him so that she would not throw a tantrum. The girl becomes especially close to Mikuru Asahina.

Review for both seasons, it makes no sense to write one at a time (as well as watch). There are no spoilers for the plot.
From the title, it is easy to understand that this title will definitely fit into a melancholy mood. This is one of the few anime in this genre that leaves a pleasant feeling in the soul after watching. already commented above).
Regarding the viewing order- tv-order (in which the majority watched this creation for the 1st time) can scare off an unprepared viewer, but the chronological order is much more interesting when you watched it some time ago in the order of release. So the viewing order is as you like (Although the same gatari in chrono order is almost an ordinary harem player).
I can especially note the absence of a sense of falseness when viewing, which haunts me when watching a lot of new titles. It arises from actions that are completely uncharacteristic of the characters in the story, there is nothing like that here, their development goes evenly, along with the plot.
Endless eight- the main stumbling block on the way to the end of the story

You can safely skip at the 1st viewing (look at parts 1 and 8, respectively),

This is a rather bold studio experiment, which caused a ton of negativity among the majority, although I liked this approach, it turned out to be somewhat comical.
I was outraged by the negative new reviews

Although the taste and color, as they say

Hello, how many anime have functioning fansites with serial parsing of trivia and references? A? A? A? (I'm talking about the site sos-dan). Especially in anime that came out more than 10 years ago.
Watch best in excellent quality

BD, maybe not everything is redrawn, but it looks very good

And with the voice acting of Reanimedia (it makes no sense to listen to the fandab when it exists).
Well IMHO: the title is either to watch in the first 20 watched, or far from the first hundred (although I did both actions at the same time and have no regrets). Because you can not taste it at all and just waste your time. Beginners will like it just as a good title, and old people will be able to see those highlights that are visible only to an experienced eye. Although it depends on the person. Also, not all stories from books have been filmed, they say there is still a lot of sweet left.
good luck.

Definitely a good anime in the genre of everyday life and school, which I put off for a long time for some reason.
Plot:
One of its main advantages is the narration from the side of GG's thoughts, thanks to which from the first episode I already learn about his personality and past life.
It also creates a lively atmosphere and does not make watching anime boring, because it’s like you are living Ken’s life.
The fantastic composition of this plot is not to say that it is right on top, but it surprised me.
All the same, the concept of a mechanism for changing the universe to suit Haruhi's mood. The creation of enclosed spaces due to her unstable emotional state. The desire of the characters to cheer her up in order to save this world.
It all looks very unusual and strange against the background of cheerful everyday life.
Characters:
Not to say that they are somehow remarkable, but they do not look the same and dull.
The same Haruhi with her changes in mood from unbridled enthusiasm and fun to melancholy
.
Ken with his attitude towards the supernatural and his desire to live an ordinary life.
wwww
A Mikuru who fits perfectly into the SOS team as a moe and has secret information.

Itsuki and his desire to make Haruhi happy while being aware of his situation and reflecting on the essence of things.
Yuki is a normal kuudere, but mysterious in her origins.
In general, all of them are united by Haruhi, and the key link in their unification is Ken, who, no matter how strange it sounds, was accidentally confused in this mysterious story.
Sounds:
The opening and the music playing in the background fits very well with the situation and the meaning of this anime, the ending is like that.
Panache:
I think it’s worth counting it as one of the important pluses, no matter how the title of 2006, and for those years, not everyone could boast of such a level of detail of characters and objects.
Comedy:
As a comedy, the title cheers you up well and actually doesn’t allow you to plunge into melancholy, some moments were really funny.
But for her sake, I would not recommend this anime, I think there is something better in this genre.
Everyday life:
Here it is simply excellent, the authors were able to show seemingly ordinary everyday moments without departing from the plot and concept, but at the same time show interesting things against the background.
For example, the everyday episode with a trip to Keiichi Tamaru's villa became a detective story and turned into a prank to again prevent Haruhi's melancholy.

Or the last three episodes with the usual everyday life, which turned into a stuck time problem for them.
In general, it’s definitely not boring to look at such everyday life!
Outcome:
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is a cult anime that everyone should watch.
In it, you can find a way to escape depression and problems by watching the adventures of the SOS team.
wwwww, or just spend time with good everyday life and a lively atmosphere.
Perhaps you will like a certain strangeness and mystery of the plot in it, which will make you think and immerse you in them.
Of course, it's not a 10/10 masterpiece and the title has its own problems, such as unrevealed plot intricacies or ambiguity about what exactly the anime is about.

I hope season 2 will help me understand this and reveal these mysteries for me.
8/10!

Want to discuss or expand on theories? You can leave comments.

Theory 1. Classic boring.

Motto: Everything is as it seems.

Haruhi Suzumiya is a god, or possesses divine powers. Asahina-san, Nagato, and Koizumi were indeed created three years ago to relieve Haruhina's boredom. Kyon came here by accident because Haruhi fell in love with him.

The theory is called classical because, in one way or another, all the characters in the books about Melancholia converge on it.

Despite the fact that the theory explains a lot, and, in fact, is the basis of all the arguments of the heroes of "Melancholia" and subsequent books, it is full of white places. One of them is the so-called paradox of unfortunate Haruhi"- the allegedly all-powerful Haruhi suffers the most in the "Brigade", because absolutely no adventures fall to her lot, she does not find aliens and so on, and all her otherworldly undertakings fail.

Variations:

  1. Haruhi is not a god, but a real god is trying to entertain her. No practical difference until this god somehow shows himself. But this theory is supported by the message left by Haruhi three years ago to heaven. After all, it was three years ago that it all began. at least, as far as is known.
  2. Kyon didn't get mixed up by chance, but was created by Haruhi herself - so that she had someone to fall in love with. There is no practical difference, at least for Kyon.
  3. Haruhi is truly happy as long as she is looking for aliens, but she gets bored when she finds them. Therefore, the subconscious (or external god) does not allow her to find anyone. A possible explanation for the "unfortunate Haruhi paradox".

Theory 1.2. Classic Zen

Motto: Through hardship to the stars

Having received a prayer about the existence of the supernormal three years ago, the deity (whatever it really is) directly created the extranormal in a way that would please Haruhi without ruining everything else.

Haruhi, however, couldn't find what she was looking for even though it was within range. However, Haruhi suffers from a rare selective blindness based on the belief that she has already observed everything that could be observed specifically at school. The deity needs from her so that Zen enlightenment comprehends her.

However, when Nagato, with the help of someone's abilities changes the world, and Kyon gets the opportunity to give up adventure, he has to tell himself the truth to some extent, confessing that he likes adventure.

Also curious is the series of dialogues going on in Kyon's head. For example, in the same fourth volume, Kyon has a conversation with himself, with one half of Kyon interrogating him, asking if he likes adventure, and the other carefully denying it.

An argument in favor of such a theory is the prologue of "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya", where Kyon talks about how, since childhood, he has always dreamed of adventure, but in such a way as to be on the sidelines. Subsequently, this is what happens.

Another argument is that Kyon is the only one of the entire "SOS Brigade" who is in full and unconditional plus: he gets the long-awaited adventures, the most beautiful girl in school, the smartest girl in school, the craziest girl in school, and a good friend. He never gets bored.

On the other hand, Haruhi, who is a god according to the classical theory, on the contrary, is constantly bored, yearning, all her undertakings are frustrated, and she cannot meet anything paranormal in any way. This paradox is called the "unfortunate Haruhi paradox", and it is described in detail along with the classical theory.

Variations:

  1. Kyon is not a god, but a real god helps him. No practical difference until this god starts acting on his own.
  2. Kyon didn't create Haruhi. He fell in love with her and created all these adventures for her. See romantic theory. But then it is not clear why Haruhi did not get anything from these adventures. A possible explanation is that Kyon thought that Haruhi would be better this way, compared to classical theories.
  3. Kyon is just one of many gods on earth.
  4. Alternative to the "subconscious" hypothesis: Kyon prepared adventures (in the person of Haruhi, endowing her with divine powers), and then erased his memory. This theory is supported, for example, by hints in the seventh volume, where Kyon repeatedly talks about how fragile memory is. It's quite possible, Kyon thinks, I have already lived moments that I later forgot about.
  5. Kyon and Haruhi are part of one whole. See the theory of divine dualism.

Theory 3.1. Kenocentric-fix.

Motto: Who is the last king here?

Kyon is indeed a god, and not only that: the rest of the "SOS Brigade" is not really hunting for Haruhi, but for him. Haruhi didn't give up on them.

Kyon himself does not suspect anything. Koizumi gently and carefully tries to lead him to the right thoughts, but Kyon always gets out, stubbornly considering Koizumi's reasoning as not noteworthy. In fact, it is his subconscious that is protecting him, preventing him from realizing the truth.

This theory is supported, in particular, by some of Koizumi's lines, as well as scenes from the second volume.

In the second volume, Haruhi directs a film whose storyline has much in common with reality. So, Yuki plays an evil magical alien in it, Mikuru is a shy guest from the future, and Itsuki is the guy that Yuki and Mikuru fight for.

The script of the movie looks very, very suspicious. For example, one day Yuki says to Mikuru, referring to the hero Koizumi:
It is you who must disappear from this plane of time. He is ours. It is of great value to us. Although he has not yet realized his powers, they are truly enormous. We'll need his help to invade Earth.

In the story from the sixth volume, describing the finished film, you can read another curious remark from Koizumi:
Yes? It turns out, no matter what choice he makes ... Wait, in the film it's not "he", but "I".

It can be assumed that we are talking about Ken. It is he who is played in the film by Koizumi, which is why he talks, confusing "him" and "himself".

Then Kyon's dialogue with himself in the fourth volume is explained: in fact, Kyon spoke with Haruhi, the other half of his mind. To some extent, it is also clear why Kyon was so panicked about not finding Haruhi in the world: after all, she is part of him. But the way they connected with each other is not entirely clear: why at the beginning of the book Kyon could not find Haruhi, and at the end he communicated with his other half without any problems?

Perhaps the fact is that Kyon was then in the past, where Haruhi had not yet been affected by the changes

Variations:

  1. God was defeated, not powerless of his own accord. See "The Cast Titans Hypothesis".
  2. The original god was Haruhi / the original god was Kyon, and she / he created a soul mate in addition to himself. No practical difference, but you can look at the "classical" or "kenocentric" theory, respectively.

Theory 3.3. The Cast Titans Hypothesis

Motto: Ah, the Decembrists!.. Don't wake Herzen!..

God lost his powers against his will. He was defeated by the enemy and divided into parts so as not to pose a threat - since it is impossible to kill a god.
In that case, it's understandable why life revolved around Haruhi only at the moment when she became friends with Kyon: of course, there was a danger that the god would be restored! Until then, Koizumi's "Organization", the people from the future who sent Mikuru, and Nagato's databrain were just passively watching Haruhi - and possibly Kyon.

Who was the side that defeated the god? It could be anyone, including any of the three organizations, and especially the united thought entity, and maybe all three together. Perhaps the god was destroyed by someone else, much more powerful, and the three current organizations are simply interested in maintaining the status quo.

This theory is particularly good at explaining why all three organizations are so afraid of Harukha's wrath. After all, if the world is destroyed and recreated anew, this will not only mark the restoration of divine powers, but will also be a death sentence for those who kept the god in chains. Strictly contrary to what stakeholders claim, the new world will most certainly not have aliens, time travelers, or psychics. It would be a completely normal world, just the kind that Kyon had always dreamed of.

Variations and additions

  1. Koizumi/Mikuru/Nagato are not really what they seem. See the "evil SOS Brigade" theory for more on this.

Theory 4. Tsuruistic.

Motto: I don't mind just watching from the sidelines.

Tsuruya-san is a god who is very bored. She gives Haruhi Suzumiya, Asahina-san, Nagato, and Koizumi superpowers, and adds Kyon for his healthy cynicism. Then she sits down by an imaginary TV and pulls out popcorn.

In the seventh volume, The Conspiracies of Haruhi Suzumiya, it turns out that Tsuruya-san is well aware of almost everything that is happening around Haruhi Suzumiya - including, probably, the ins and outs of Asahina, Nagato and Koizumi. However, she doesn't care at all. She claims that she is well and without other people's secrets. She doesn't mind just quietly watching from the sidelines.

Koizumi reveals that Tsuruya-san's family has close ties to his "Organization".

Variations:

  1. Tsuruya-san created Haruhi and others from scratch. No practical difference.
  2. Tsuruya-san did it to entertain her friend Mikuru. But in the end, it only scared me to death.
  3. Tsuruya-san quietly loves Kyon and did it for him so that he wouldn't get bored. And then, as in the theory of kenocentrism.
  4. Tsuruya-san isn't the only god. See polytheistic theory.

Theory 5. Polytheistic.

Motto: We the gods.

There are many people on earth or in the universe who have divine powers. Some of them are still unknown, while others have already been found in books.

Where these divine abilities came from is unknown. Perhaps they were provided by some more powerful deity (cf. classical zen theory: perhaps this is a certain school of life for people who have received superpowers). Or maybe people with divine abilities are themselves incarnations of the gods.

Variations:

  1. Haruhi is still a goddess, however, she is not alone. Compare with classical theories.
  2. Divine powers were given to Kyon and Tsuruya, and Haruhi was just Kyon's ward. Compare with kenocentric and tsuruistic theories.

Theory 6.1. Giveaway game.

Motto: I know what you did last summer.

Haruhi realizes that she is surrounded by aliens, time travelers and psychics. In the end, how can you not understand this, being with them around the clock! It's just that Haruhi likes to have fun watching the whole carousel spinning around her. Including how Kyon suffers, trying to hide the obvious from her.

Theory 6.2. CONSPIRACY.

Motto: All these lies.

Once Asahina-san, Koizumi and Nagato met by chance on the street, drank a cup of coffee, and confessed to each other that they were an alien, a time traveler and a psychic. And then it occurred to them good joke.
They told Kyon that Haruhi is a goddess and needs to be kept in line. Haruhi they said the same about Kyon. After that, all three began to have fun, who in what way: create closed spaces with avatars, frighten Kyon with Asakurami with knives and ride back and forth from the future to the past.

Variations:

  1. Haruhi, they didn't say anything like that. Haruhi herself is at the same time with them. Compare with theory six.

Theory 6.3. Evil SOS Brigade.

Motto: My other me.

Members of the "SOS Brigade" are not at all who they say they are. They only play their roles, adjusting to Kyon's tastes.

For example, Nagato practically takes him for the owner, following all his instructions and waiting for his confirmation in everything. On his advice, she stopped wearing glasses, only she opened the door for him in the story "The Lonely Island Syndrome". The only time she refused him was the story from the eighth volume, "The Rogue Shadow". On the other hand, she follows Haruhi's orders with obvious disdain as part of her inevitable duties. One of the possible reasons for this is "Nagato + Kyon = love"(see the corresponding addition), the other - she tries to please him in everything, because she wants to win his favor.

We see from the books that Kyon likes to think of Nagato as an emotionless girl who slowly begins to gain them. He likes to protect Nagato and admire how she barely shows feelings. This is confirmed by Kyon's words in Volume 4, in the story "In Love at First Sight" from Volume 6, and in other books.

But Nagato may well deliberately act the way Kyon likes.

When Nagato creates his "ideal world" in the fourth volume, Asakura is resurrected in him. This suggests that Nagato is kind to Asakura. However, when Kyon comes to visit Nagato, Nagato from the altered world is afraid of Asakura and asks Kyon not to leave her alone with her. Why, then, did Nagato restore Asakura to this world if she was afraid of her? Or is this another scene played out for Kyon?

Another possible motivation for Nagato in creating the world is to please Kyon. But in this case, it is all the more incomprehensible why it was necessary to resurrect the girl whom Kyon is afraid to tremble in his teeth.

We see that the behavior of the cold-blooded and prudent alien is illogical and does not fit well with her possible motives.

Same with Mikuru: Koizumi mentioned that Mikuru's appearance and behavior could well be picked up by people from the future so that Kyon likes her. This makes sense: why else send such a clumsy and helpless girl back in time?

Yes, and Koizumi himself has repeatedly said that he cares about Kyon's opinion, and winning Kyon's favor would be a great success for him. As such, Koizumi is arguably the most honest of the three paranormal members - although he appears to be a trickster at first glance.

Variations

  1. Koizumi, Mikuru, and Nagato fight over Kyon since he is the true god. See kyenocentrism theory
  2. Haruhi and Kyon are just parts of a single god, separated and deprived of their powers. The "SOS Brigade" tries to prevent their reunion. See cast titans hypothesis
  3. Nagato tries to win Kyon's affection not out of malice, but out of the goodness of his heart. See addition "Kyon + Nagato = love".

Theory 7. Slider.

Motto: Announce the entire list, please.

Kyon - slider, guest from parallel world. Haruhi Suzumiya wanted to meet "aliens, time travelers, psychics or sliders". The alien, psychic, and time traveler are Nagato, Koizumi, and Mikuru. It is logical to assume that the remaining, fourth member of the SOS Brigade is the missing link, the slider.

The reasons why Kyon doesn't know about his true identity can be different. Including:

  1. Kyonu was erased by the fourth organization standing behind him, people from a parallel world. This was part of their plan to investigate Suzumiya Haruhi.
  2. Memory loss is an inevitable consequence of traveling between worlds.
  3. Kyon is a random traveler from a parallel world who lost his travel car and deliberately erased his memory so as not to be in despair that he could not return home.

On the other hand, speaking of the events of the fourth volume, Koizumi states in the seventh volume that "there are two different December eighteenths, one corrupted, one corrected." Thus, Koizumi believes that these two versions of one day do not exist in turn, but in parallel - thus creating two parallel worlds.

In one of the worlds on the eighteenth of December, Kyon wakes up as an ordinary schoolboy. In another, Kyon falls down the stairs and hurts his head. Both of these worlds exist because without one there would be no other.

Thus, the concept of "pseudo-parallel" (corrected in time) worlds turns into the usual concept of parallel worlds. The slider theory becomes possible again.

Trivia and extras

Mikuru - Kyon's sister

One hypothesis is that Mikuru is Kyon's sister. There are not many reasons to think so. The girls share a common clumsiness and affection for Kyon. Also, Mikuru's age, while still a mystery, is roughly in line with what's possible.

Recently, I was going to do a favorite review of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, but in the process of creating I remembered one very interesting article and different views on the world of anime itself.

SPOILERS

Everything and everything and, in particular, the plot of "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya"

Theory 1. Classic boring.

Bottom line: Everything is as it seems

Everything is exactly as it seems. Haruhi Suzumiya is a god, or possesses divine powers. Asahina-san, Nagato and Koizumi were indeed created three years ago to relieve her boredom. Kyon gets into this company by accident, because Haruhi falls in love with him.

The theory is called classical because, in one way or another, all the characters in the books about Melancholia converge on it.

Despite the fact that the theory explains a lot, and, in fact, is the basis of all the reasoning of the heroes of "Melancholia" and subsequent books, it simply shows through holes. The most basic is the "paradox of the unfortunate Haruhi" - after all, Haruhi suffers the most. She does not notice all the wonders around and there are absolutely no adventures left for her. She doesn't find aliens and stuff, and all her otherworldly endeavors fail.

Variations:

1. Haruhi is not a god, but a real god tries to entertain her.

No practical difference until this god somehow shows himself. But this theory is supported by the message left by Haruhi three years ago to heaven. After all, it was three years ago that everything began - at least, as far as is known.

2. Kyon didn't get mixed up by chance, but was created by Haruhi herself - so that she had someone to fall in love with.

There is no practical difference, at least for Kyon.

3. Haruhi is truly happy only while she is looking for aliens, but she will immediately get bored when she finds them. Therefore, the subconscious (or external god) does not allow her to find anyone.

A possible explanation for the "Unfortunate Haruhi Paradox".

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 1.2. Classic Zen

Essence: Through thorns to the stars

Having received a prayer about the existence of the supernormal three years ago, the deity (whatever it really is) directly created the extranormal in a way that would please Haruhi without ruining everything else. Haruhi, however, couldn't find what she was looking for even though it was within range.

The explanation proposed by the theory for the "unfortunate Haruhi paradox" is as follows: the outer god (or Haruhi's very independent subconscious) did not aim to entertain Haruhi by immediately giving her candy in the form of aliens and so on. They wanted to teach her something, to make her take some steps on her own.

All the events happening with Haruhi, therefore, can be considered as a kind of school of life, designed to make her change in a certain way, grow up, become worthy of meeting with aliens, etc., or simply learn to love an individual, and put his personality more important than his role - he is an alien or psychic.

Variations:

1. The real god is… (Haruhino subconscious/Kyon/Tsuruya/Hikoboshi and Orihime/…).

No practical difference, although the version with Haruhin's subconscious seems unlikely. It's also possible that the real Outer God had several different goals, such as both raising Haruhi and entertaining Kyon and Tsuruya at the same time.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 2. Romantic.

Essence: He will climb into the night sky, burn all his fingers, but soon the constellation Lida will rise over the quiet Earth

Haruhi Suzumiya is an ordinary schoolgirl, like Asahina-san, Nagato, Koizumi and others. All magical, unusual and paranormal adventures are invented by Kyon as a romantic legend for the girl he is in love with. For Haruhi, because she loves aliens, aliens, psychics and misses adventure.

Variations:

1. Kyon's fantasy really came true because Kyon had divine powers.

See the theory of kenocentrism.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 3. Kenocentric.

Bottom line: I've always liked supporting roles more.

Kyon is a real god, or possesses divine powers. He is too cynical, reasonable and smart to do stupid things, but deep down he dreams of adventure. Therefore, his subconscious creates for him Haruhi Suzumiya, the personification of his hidden desires. Kyon wins everywhere: Haruhi draws him into adventures, but you can always blame and grumble on her, and the fidget never takes offense at this.

However, when Nagato changes the world with some ability and Kyon is given the option to stop adventuring, he has to admit to himself that he enjoys adventure.

An argument in favor of such a theory is the prologue of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, where Kyon talks about how, since childhood, he has always dreamed of adventure, but in such a way as to be on the sidelines.

Another argument is that Kyon is the only one of the entire “SOS Team” who is in full and unconditional plus: he gets the long-awaited adventures, the most beautiful girl in school, the smartest girl in school, the most crazy girl in school and a good friend. He is constantly in the whirlwind of events and he has no time to be bored. Unlike Haruhi. Her suffering is described in the "Unfortunate Haruhi Paradox", and detailed in the classical theory.

Variations:

1. Kyon is not a god, but a real god helps him.

No practical difference until this god starts acting on his own.

2. Kyon didn't create Haruhi. He fell in love with her and created all these adventures for her. (See romantic theory.) But then it is not clear why Haruhi did not get anything from these adventures.

A possible explanation is that Kyon thought that Haruhi would be better this way, compared to classical theories.

3. Kyon is just one of many gods on earth.

4. Alternative to the “subconscious” hypothesis: Kyon prepared adventures (in the person of Haruhi, endowing her with divine powers), and then erased his memory.

This theory is supported, for example, by hints in the seventh volume, where Kyon repeatedly talks about how fragile memory is. It's quite possible, Kyon thinks, I have already lived moments that I later forgot about.

5. Kyon and Haruhi are part of the same whole.

See the theory of divine dualism.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 3.1. Kenocentric-fix.

Essence: Who is the last king here?

Kyon really is a god, and not only that: the rest of the SOS Brigade is not really hunting for Haruhi, but for him. Haruhi didn't give up on them.

Kyon himself does not suspect anything. Koizumi gently and carefully tries to lead him to the right thoughts, but Kyon always gets out, stubbornly dismissing Koizumi's reasoning as unworthy of attention. In fact, it is his subconscious that is protecting him, preventing him from realizing the truth.

In the seventh volume, while talking to Kyon, Koizumi makes a completely unambiguous allusion to this particular version:

//- Maybe it's not Suzumiya-san who possesses omnipotence, but someone else?

Koizumi was probably trying to add a bit of sarcasm to his smile, but it turned out to be completely ordinary:

“The eye of the hurricane is very calm, but the elements are raging around it. Maybe someone would prefer to watch the unfolding turmoil from the sidelines. Here you are, for example, all the time in business; would the puppeteer hide under the guise of such a character who gets so much?

Well, here he is again with his incomprehensible statements. But since I'm in his debt, I'll listen anyway. Though I can't promise I'll remember anything; if I could remember this, my grades at school would have improved a long time ago.//

It's clear that Kyon doesn't take hints at all.

Among other things, if you look closely, the members of the “SOS Brigade” are often more interested in Kyon's opinion rather than Haruhi's. It's possible that their current personalities are just masks they use to win over Kyon. See the "evil SOS Brigade" theory for more on this.

Variations:

1. Nagato, Asahina and Koizumi think their target is Haruhi. The authorities do not tell them that the real god is Kyon.

In the light of the main arguments, this is not a very likely version.

2. Haruhi is bait to get Kyon. The rest of the "Brigade" takes advantage of her naivety, inspiring her to believe in the supernatural.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 3.2. Divine dualism.

Meaning: More fun together

Haruhi and Kyon are two halves of a god, imperfect on their own. Haruhi gets recklessness and impulsiveness, and Kyon gets prudence and cynicism. Since both of them are only parts of a whole, neither can use their full divine power. However, Haruhi gets some of the former abilities, and Kyon gets the knowledge of the presence of these abilities. Thus each is powerless without the other.

Probably, the split into two halves occurred at the request of God himself. Perhaps he got bored of having absolute power, and he wanted to make life unpredictable and difficult, depriving himself of some of his strength. And so that the world does not fall apart, the remaining forces were divided so that they balance each other.

Variations:

1. God did not lose his power of his own free will, but was defeated.

See the Cast Titans Hypothesis.

2. The original god was / was Haruhi / Kyon, and she / he created a soul mate in addition to himself.

No practical difference, but you can look at the "classical" or "kyenocentric" theory, respectively.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 3.3. The Cast Titans Hypothesis

Essence: Ah, the Decembrists!.. Don't wake Herzen!..

God lost his powers against his will. He was defeated by the enemy and divided into parts so as not to pose a threat - since it is impossible to kill a god.

If everything happened like this, then it becomes clear why life revolved around Haruhi only at the moment when she became friends with Kyon: of course, there was a danger that the god would be reborn! Up to this point, Koizumi's "Organization", the people from the future who sent Mikuru to the past, and Nagato's integral thought-entity were just passively watching Haruhi - and probably also Kyon.

This theory is particularly good at explaining why all three organizations are so afraid of Harukha's wrath. After all, if the world is destroyed and reborn, it will not only mark the restoration of divine powers, but also be a death sentence for those who kept the god under lock and key. In stark contrast to what various parties are claiming, the new world will most likely be free of aliens, time travelers, and psychics. It will be a completely ordinary, normal world - just the kind that Kyon dreams of.

Variations:

1. Koizumi/Mikuru/Nagato are not really what they seem.

See the “evil SOS Brigade” theory for more on this.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 4. Tsuruistic.

Bottom line: I don't mind just watching from the sidelines.

Tsuruya-san is a god who is very, very bored. She gives Haruhi Suzumiya, Asahina-san, Nagato and Koizumi superpowers, and of course Kyon for his healthy cynicism. And then, she sits down by an imaginary TV and pulls out an imaginary popcorn.

In the seventh volume, "The Conspiracies of Haruhi Suzumiya", it turns out that Tsuruya-san is well aware of almost everything that is happening around Haruhi Suzumiya, including all members of her team. However, she doesn't care at all. Tsuruya-san claims that she is fine without other people's secrets. She absolutely does not mind just quietly watching from the side.

Variations:

1. Tsuruya-san created Haruhi and others from scratch.

2. She did it to entertain her friend Mikurochka.

3. Tsuruya-san likes Kyon quietly and did it for him so he wouldn't get bored.

4. Tsuruya-san is not the only god.

See polytheistic theory.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 5. Polytheistic.

Essence: We are the gods.

There are many people on earth or in the universe who have divine powers. Some of them are still unknown, while others have already been mentioned in books. Where all these divine abilities came from is unknown. There is a possibility that some more powerful deity gave them. Or maybe people with divine abilities are the incarnations of the gods.

Variations:

1. Kyon and Tsuruya got divine powers, and Haruhi is just Kyon's ward.

Compare with kyenocentric and tsuruistic theories.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 6.1. Giveaway game.

Bottom line: I know what you did last summer.

Haruhi understands everything: that she is surrounded by aliens, psychics and time travelers. In the end, how can you not understand this, being with them around the clock! It's just that Haruhi really likes to have fun, watching this whirlpool of events whirl around her. Including how Kyon suffers, trying to hide the obvious from her.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 6.2. CONSPIRACY.

Bottom line: All these lies.

Once Asahina-san, Koizumi and Nagato met by chance on the street, drank a cup of coffee (or any other drink), and confessed to each other that they were an alien, a time traveler and a psychic. And then they came up with a great idea.

They told Kyon that Haruhi was a goddess and needed to be kept in check. Haruhi they said exactly the same thing about Kyon. After that, all three began to have fun, whoever is in what much: create closed spaces with the titans, scare Kyon with Asakura with knives and jump back and forth, from the future to the past.

Variations:

1. Haruhi they didn't say anything like that. Haruhi herself is at the same time with them.

Compare with theory number six.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 6.3. Evil SOS Brigade.

Essence: My other self.

The members of the SOS Brigade are not at all who they say they are. They only play their roles, adjusting to Kyon's tastes.

For example, Nagato practically takes him for the owner, fulfilling absolutely all his instructions and waiting for his consent in everything. On his advice, she stopped wearing glasses, only she opened the door for him in the story “The Lonely Island Syndrome”. On the other hand, she follows Haruhi's orders with sheer contempt as part of her inevitable and unloved duties.

One of the possible reasons for this is “Nagato + Kyon = love”, another is that she tries to please him because she wants to win his affection.

But Nagato may well deliberately act the way Kyon likes.

In addition, the incident with Asakura Ryoko is suggestive of classical scheme"Good cop, bad cop." Asakura attacks Kyon with a knife, Nagato saves him and earns points in Kyon's eyes. By this, she is the first of the entire brigade to prove the veracity of her words. Isn't it the ideal scheme?

However, when Nagato creates his "ideal world" in the fourth volume, Asakura is resurrected in him.

It becomes clear that the behavior of the cold-blooded alien is illogical and does not fit well with her possible motives.

Same with Mikuru: Koizumi mentioned that Mikuru's appearance and behavior could well be picked up by people from the future so that Kyon likes her. This makes sense: why else send such a clumsy and helpless girl back in time?

Although Koizumi himself has repeatedly said that winning the favor of Kyon would be a great success for him. Thus, Koizumi is probably the most honest of the three enigmatic members of the team - although he looks like a trickster at first glance.

Variations:

1. Koizumi, Mikuru and Nagato fight for Kyon because he is the real god.

See kyenocentrism theory

2. Haruhi and Kyon are only parts of a single god, separated and deprived of their powers. The SOS Brigade is trying to prevent their reunion.

See cast titans hypothesis

3. Nagato tries to win over Kyon not out of malice, but out of the goodness of his heart.

See addition “Kyon + Nagato = love”.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 7. Slider.

Bottom line: Announce the entire list, please.

Kyon is a slider, a guest from a parallel world. Haruhi Suzumiya wanted to meet "aliens, time travelers, psychics, or guests from a parallel world." The alien, psychic, and time traveler are Nagato, Koizumi, and Mikuru. And it is perfectly logical to assume that the remaining, fourth member of the “SOS Brigade” is the missing link, the slider.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Add-ons

Mikuru - Kyon's sister

Also, one of the hypotheses says that Mikuru is Kyon's sister. There are not many reasons to think so. The girls share a common affection for Kyon. Also, Mikuru's age, while still a mystery, is roughly in line with what's possible.

If we assume that Mikuru is Kyon's sister, then her personal attachment to the rescued boy, an acquaintance of Haruhi, the future inventor of the time machine, becomes clear. In this case, Kyon's older sister would be about the same age as him, and might even know him personally.

Also, such a hypothesis explains well why Mikuru diligently avoids any development of the relationship between her and Kyon, as well as Kyon's gratuitous attachment to her.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Nagato + Kyon = love

Almost all of the stories and books in the Haruhi Suzumiya series deal with Nagato in one way or another. The accents in her direction are sometimes so strong that one can only assume - perhaps it is Nagato that interests Kyon the most?

In the story "In Love at First Sight", Kyon openly admits that he worries about Nagato the most:

In the months since we met, Nagato and I have been through a lot together. Although, of course, I experienced a lot with Haruhi, and with Asahina-san, and with Koizumi, but it seems that with Nagato we have much more shared memories. In fact, almost every incident during this time was connected to her in one way or another. And somehow it turns out that I worry about her much more than for anyone on the team.
